How do you go camping without being a nuisance with snoring loudly? I recently went on a small 2 day backcountry trip and on one of the days there was another couple kind of nearby camping as well. The next morning the guy walked over to my campsite while i was packing stuff up and asked me if I realized I snored so loudly and how inconsiderate it was for me to be out in the woods ruining the peace for everyone. Luckily it was my last day out but I ended up feeling like shit the entire hike out and now I'm worried about ever going camping again.

Its their fault for not packing earplugs on the off chance theres actual inconsiderate people being loud at night, they should be glad it was only snoring and not a Bluetooth speaker and an led lamp at full brightness

The guy seems like an asshole. Like if you were playing some loud speaker or something I'd get it but snoring is just natural. Honestly nothing you can really do, people will be assholes. You weren't being inconsiderate and like another person in this thread said, they should have had earplugs. So yeah don't worry about going camping again and you did nothing wrong. And whatever you do don't do that stupid celebrity thing where they cover their mouth in tape like an idiot.

I'm gonna start doing this to everyone regardless if whether they snore or not

If you actually have sleep apnea, and you get a CPAP machine, you can get the air mini or another travel one and bring a battery. Relatively light for the fat guy tax, and you can put the hose in your sleeping bag to preheat the air you breathe all night. I added a fabric sleeve on mine to redirect the exhaust down the tube and reclaim some exhaled heat while keeping condensation out of my bag. Doesn't suck any more than CPAP in general.

Also don't worry about Mr. Cranky. If he said "did you know you snore? Might want to get checked for apnea" that would be reasonable, but it's not rude to be out there. Next time just accuse him of sleepwalking or something

If you try to shame me for sleeping at night I will bear spray you
