There's something enriching about stopping to look at a mushroom and being able to identify it. Try getting a few locale-specific field guides and identifying cool stuff you see out there.

What I did is look up a bunch of videos on gear and read reviews on forums before spending a few thousand dollars on an amazing setup and then leave it all brand new in box unopened on shelving I bought for it and never use it while I sit here in places like /out/ to enjoy the idea of doing it.
