Most national parks require backcountry permits year round, but only during the summer doing they actually have staff going around checking they backcountry. So I never get one outside of the summer season. And during the summer I only get them in popular areas.

I enjoy that despite the UK being where the crown is from they got no crown land and we got excessive amounts of it. you can also hunt crown land freely.

I always do because I'm a pussy. But also generally I'm glad permits exist so that certain places don't get overrun.
