Crossbows arent archery edition. So we havent really had one of these threads in the fast handful of years. Post bow builds, your plans for hunting this upcoming season, your target species, your arrow build, etc.

Why are compound bows expensive? What's wrong with a reasonably priced bow?
>>2874981GA. We're lucky to be able to take 10 does and 2 bucks per season. Hogs have no limit, season, and are really good eating when prepared right. >>2874980How hard is it to rabbit and squirrel hunt with a bow? seems like it would be difficult because of such a small target? what ranges are you shooting them at?>>2875013Bear makes decent bows, prices aren't bad either. buy one that doesn't break the bank and just shoot it until you figure out you like it or until you get really good at it. Most bow tech peaked in the 90's so you're not going to see a massive difference if you bought one that cost 2k vs $350
>>2875097>Bear makes decent bows, prices aren't bad either.This. I have a Blackout Epic and it does everything I want it to. I do plan on upgrading a few parts here and there, but last year was my first year bow hunting and so I wanted to get a feel for it first.
I've thought about getting into bow hunting, I'd get a longer deer hunt season, and I have a friend who gets a lot of hogs near his land and a bow wouldn't alert the neighbor's dogs like the .308 does.
>>2875341It gets addicting and you'll eventually won't want to hunt with anything else because of the challenge bow hunting gives. You do have to get closer and getting the perfect shot is much harder than with a rifle. You have to learn discipline that firearms hunting doesn't teach you, and you'll start taking your time to get that perfect shot and when you do it makes the payoff so much more fulfilling.
>>2875403That's what I'm hoping for. It's easy to take out a hog from 150 yards but getting to 30 or so with a bow will make me improve overall.
