Does anyone have any good tips on how to find bones? I live in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by forests and plenty of wild animals, yet I rarely find any remains. I have a small collection that I'd love to expand, but it takes quite a long time. Are there any universal spots in forests (such as clearings, deeper woods, etc.) where you're almost guaranteed to find bones?

Like an embankment or stand of trees where they decide to rest in the shade then never get up.Hollow or corner where a predator can safely eat its kill and only focus on being attacked from one direction.Turns on streams where a carcass would get hung up after being carried down a straight portion of flood waters.

I have found various bones and skulls before, i havent set out to find them purposefully but of I did I would research which local species have cool skulls then go on inaturalist and look for sightings, habitat regions and seasonality and go from there
>>2874788I walked a considerable distance to look for bones. I wouldn't know how to guarantee finding them, but covering large areas increases your chances.
Tie some chicken wings to a few bones and teach your dog to find them. Same strategy as deer sheds.
