What's the best form of self defense you can get outside of a firearm? I've been looking at things like high powered CO2 kinetic round launchers and lower powered pepper ball launchers, but I'm not entirely sure that kind of thing would be effective at stopping much of any kind of threat.I'd like to think the pepper balls would be more effective at stopping a human threat, maybe there isn't a kinetic round launcher out there that's powerful enough to work without being just a gun. I'd also like to ward off wild animals and violent dogs. Any ideas?

But it's as close as you're going to get in a firearm style weapon. Upside, you can keep the tank pressurized and the rifle ready to go. Downside, you're not walking around town with it. And when you are somewhere you'd want to, it's not light.CO2 pistols can't be kept ready to fire long term. You don't want to keep the CO2, pressurized, in the system for longer than 48 hours, 24 recommended. Otherwise it'll corrode the o-rings and eventually destroy them. Pepper spray can be carried most places and can be stored ready to go long term.

>>2875275>>2875337Alright...NGL...those are actually pretty bad ass. I was just looking at a couple 30cal pcp air rifles and the ballistic gel tests look decent. Still nothing compared to a .308. But compared to a .177 or .22 or even a 22lr, they're legit. But as you say, as or more expensive as a real rifle, require an air compressor and are 1.5-2x as heavy. Not gonna run out and buy one, but I'm impressed.
