>offer no protection against ankle eversion or inversion roll
>offer no gains in transfer of load to footbed
>heavier
>longer to put on take off (kek)
>less comfortable
>need high socks anyhow
literally why are you wearing high top or mid hiking boots?
>they look good on women
yeah I will concede that point

literally why are you so concerned about what other men wear?

They were on clearance

Could you pick a faggier looking shoe as an example?

high tops are good only if you can lace them tight, because it's much harder to roll an ankle. imporant if you are climbing on rocks, roots, or holes. decades of skateboarding taught me that though.

>high tops are good only if you can lace them tight, because it's much harder to roll an ankle
unfortunately we can all use scholar.google.com now and there is zero evidence high top boots laced tight or not have any impact on ankle eversion. The army has millions and millions of data points saying it’s not the case. Only bracing prevents ankle rols.

I took the sandal pill thanks to sandal anon. He made a convincing argument. I realized I only want to be wearing sandals whenever I'm not hiking, so what if I could just wear them while hiking also?

actual pros:
>crossing streams
>protection from debris entering footwear
>protection against branches/stings/ticks
>decades of anecdotal claims about preventing ankle roll

your 'cons':
>less comfortable
okay princess
>need high socks
stop buying women's socks
>longer to put on take off
if 2-5 seconds matter to you this much then low-tops aren't much of an improvement.
>heavier
if the weight of your footwear is an issue you might just be a twink

anyway keep trustin the heckin science

Bracing your ankle does prevent rolling, yeah.
I brace my ankle with a soft padded foam and synthetic strap that is permanently attached to the top of my shoe so I can lace it all up in one go! It's firm enough that it offers extra support against ankle rolls but still gives me some flexibility.
Isn't it amazing we invented such a thing?

Basically if you can't understand how a boot might stop your ankle rolling, you may be (definitely are) an idiot.
I won't look at this thread again, because I know I'm right and you're wrong.
Bye bitch

will these make my feet sweat at about 30C

my father went to the himalayans for trekking
the average euro/american had those big ass heavy boots, tricked out gear, even oxygen under 6000m
sherpas (the guys actually hauling the heavy baggage of said wealthy tourists) were doing this in flip-flops and shorts
high ankle hiking boots are a meme if youre not actually mountaineering

Your feet are going to sweat regardless of the temp or weather.
