I haven’t caught anything in 4 outings and it’s really starting to upset me. I think I need to just throw earthworms and a bobber to get some confidence back.
I went fishing and didnt catch anything but did find a dragonfly molt, so im gonna call it a success.>>2875918Do it, anon, do it unironically, and unironically have fun doing it. Harassing dinks with live bait is a great way to rebuild confidence and have easy fun. >>2875908What>>2875909SaidIve personally caught carp on both flies and baited bobber rigs, carp are just fish, you can just catch them.
>>2875920Thanks anon, I smashed my new spinner bait on a thick branch over my head when casting and that was the straw that broke the camels back. Taking the camper to the next campsite today and gonna go dink hunting in the campsites boat launch channel I think. Seen a bunch of cool snakes and blue heron so the last outing wasn’t completly awful

>>2876023Not exactly but its really close, as best as i can measure the tail is about .005-.007 inches thicker but i think it will be serviceable. I might try to find a way to pull the alignment pins and lap it a couple thousandths thinner with a piece of glass and some increasingly fine wet/dry sand paper. If i could cheat .003-.005 thou per side with some elbow grease id be extatic
Spent all day yesterday dropping a friend's luggage off and buying a new car. New car will improve my fishing experience by allowing for a fly rod carrier and trailer. Plus, there's tons more room for gear and sleeping. Got home very late but didn't sleep long. Anyway, I'm about to take it on its first fishing trip. Wish me luck.
>>2875918Same boat as you man. I actually went out today with the sole intent of harassing bluegill, and still didn't get so much as a nibble. I hope my hunting season is better than my fishing has been this year. Best of luck on your future trips, hope you get into sone fish soon, anon.
I like these grubs
>>2876030Sounds like a project. Just remember to go slow and test it as you go. You can take more off but can't put it back.
>>2876042I was pretty tired, and I'm pretty laid back when it comes to fishing, so I didn't spend much time on the water today.First spot I went to was an UPPER portion of the creek. Like the first time I was there, no trout. Instead of shiners, I caught chubs. Including this monster. I also caught a few minnows and a crayfish. Water temp was 75.In the LOWER portion, I measured the temp to be 65. That was only a couple hours apart. Last time, the lower section was clean after a rain event, and the upper was muddy. I think there has to be more spring activity in the lower part of the creek, which is counterintuitive and atypical. I caught a weird-looking stocker rainbow with orange on its belly.
Oh yeah we eging
>>2876116The ground surface looks like ice. What is it really?
>>2876110Yeah nah taking it off is way easier than putting it on. That said, im a machinist, and ive buffed and lapped parts in to tolerance before so im not too intimidated by the prospect of lapping a couple thou off these mold plates. Legit the hardest part is going to be pulling the alignment pins, they're really stubby and i dont want to mar them. Maybe i mark their location, drill through the aluminum, then once i hit steel get a punch involved and tap it out. Otherwise i gotta come up with a way to grab and pull. Maybe i could drill/tap the tip of the pin for something small like a 10/24 and use a screw and a slide hammer? But this is all *if* at the moment, i think they might be good where they are. Im also considering getting a softer plastic, which unfortunately would make them more fragile, but given how cheap it is to make a dozen, and that i can recycle the plastic a couple times, im not too worried about losing tails more frequently.>>2876116Nice eldrich horror looks yummy>>2876123Looks like wet stone to me

The skunked streak is finally over! Only one I got. Switched to a spinner afterwards hoping for something big and to practice using them. Tied a Palmer knot where the wire bends. Is that how you’re supposed to do it? Felt like the spoons were getting tangled on my line for a third of my cast.

>>2876213Treble hooks>>2876246Curly tail goatYes a palomar knot in the kink on an offset spinner is cirrect, not sure why it was fouling on you
>>2876246I just snap swivel my spinner bait because I'm lazy. It works fine. As soon as you start retrieving the snap settles into the bend on the wire arm.
>>2876254I dont think thats the issue in this case, it sounds to me like the bait was tumbling, not his tie iff location shifting
got pic related from a mate who was gonna get rid of it and I always wanted to try fishingno clue on it and he couldnt recall the name or brand of the thing, anything I should know/change about it before I start angling?
>>2876260Is there any writing on it at all anywhere
>>2876254that will 100% foul up sometimes. been there tried that. tie a proper uni knot and it will cast properly every time. the only time those types of spinners don't run right is if you have a bouyant soft plastic trailer on it that fucks it up, or sometimes no trailer at all fucks it up if you reel to fast. spinnerbaits all look pretty much the same but there vary wildly in how good they actually run at different speeds.

Ok, I know we got at least a couple folks into vintage stuff here. Found these tooling around in my mom's basement. It's an Abu Ambassadeur 6000C and two Mitchell 300A. The Abu appears to be from Sweden, and the Mitchells both say made in France. What's the general story on these guys?
>bike to a quiet remote location 20 miles from the city>deep waters, long pier, lean-to shelter>hear people talking as I get closer>uh oh>it's three boomers on a yacht hogging up the entire width of the pier end>shitty music blasting and three guys having a shouty discussionAs I was writing this a guy from the yacht came up to me and we talked a little. Today is apparently some yacht party on this specific pier in the middle-of-nowhere and they'll be here until night. Just my luck!
>>2876373I can't give any special info but my dad has a couple abu ambassadors. Had them for a long time and they are great reels
>>2876375>go to the nearest lake with fishing jetties, nice reedbeds and overhangs>it's right next to a city filled with migrants>polacks and unemployed dune coons spend all day there catching fish just to eat them even though our region is strictly catch and release>perch and pike carcasses are everywhere next to disposable BBQ trays>some dude tells me he hasn't caught anything in months, there are only minnows and fingerlings left in the lakei guess i have to bushwack across some bogland to find a decent fishing spot that isn't just a pond stocked with carp. fishing in flanders is godawful

And probably a medium power which would be a good do-all for the majority of fishing istuations i can think of.>>2876403We having infant great ones for dinner tonight>>2876405Squid jig, its a special swuid specific hook style with way more hooks than treble hooks

>>2875910I got a free SS70pg (sea striker ladies pier ), I’m not a lady but is this any good? I can tell it’s a bit old colors are kinda faded feels smooth but I know I should despoil it and probably oil it. I’ve never oiled a reed before I’m sure it’s not too hard. Am I better off selling this or can I use this for surf fishing? It’s FOR pier and surf but idk how good it is. I’m unfamiliar with the brand. I wanted a penn battle. I may sell this and my old rods and use the money to get the penn but idk yet.
>>2876460If oiling, don't take it apart. Just put some purpose built oil on the shaft and run the reel a few times. Then, put some on the bail lever and the line roller and work it in.If taking it apart, be ready to put it back together. Grease is better than oil, so taking it apart would be good, but that is an ordeal for most, hence why it never happens.
>>2876460It's a 30$ brand new, it's basically disposable. It's probably perfectly usable and worth more as a fishing tool than the 10$ you'd be lucky to get for it.

How do you build up resistance to go out when its like 34-36 degrees celsius? Some people say its still good weather to fish but this humidity is killing me man
Anyone find any good fishing deals lately? I just got a bunch of googan baits tungsten weights for over half off today which is pretty good considering there is a tungsten shortage going on. 2 bucks for pack of nail weight sinkers and 3 bucks for some drop shot weights.

>>2876646Nice. I have the same reel in left hand
>>2876641Watch a movie? Maybe a movie about fishing
>>2876651>what brand and thickness of fishing line is recommended for all around/general usage?i would say berkley big game mono, got myself a 1000m spool of green (i fish mostly rivers and lakes) 6kg(a bit above 13lb) and filled most of my small/midsize reels with itthat kind of line will do for most fishes, but if your braid still look somewhat in good shape i'd use it
>>2876653Yeah Im gonna go for Berkley, saw it also heavily recommended in multiple videos and onlineBerkley Trilene XL (clear), I believe I'm aiming for 0.28mm with a 7kg rating since I was told its generally a good all around and seeing you got a 6kg one I guess its not far offTook off the braided line since it had some discoloration in other spots so better safe than sorryAll I need now is to look into a proper shallow diving crankbait and I should be set (already got long nose pliers, fishing pliers and a net)
>>28766570.28mm is starting to get thick but still acceptablealso it's recommended because it's one of the bigger american brands, wouldn't say it's the best but it's got good quality at a decent price>All I need now is to look into a proper shallow diving crankbait i'd use jigheads with soft plastics over hard lures, it's cheaper and more forgiving, also don't make you rant on 4chan as much when you loose one as it's relatively expendable
line depends on the size of your reel, stiffness of your rod, what kind of lures you want to use effectively, and if your target fish are toothy. for example you don't want to put thick heavy line on a 2500 spinning reel, it will have way too much memory. you also don't want thick heavy line with certain lures, they will run lke shit. Especially certain hardbaits with lips. Trilene XL is pretty good mono because it's soft, but 15lb is much thicker and heavier than you want on a normal sized spinning reel. It actually breaks way higher than 15lb anyways. something like 8lb is as big as I'd go on a spinning reel unless it's a big reel for surf fishing or catfishing. Yo-Zuri Hybrid is also a good line but it's thicker than the equivalent poundage of mono. the advantage being it has less stretch than nearly all mono so it's more sensitive. you can get 600yd bulk spools for 10 bucks.
>>2876661>for example you don't want to put thick heavy line on a 2500 spinning reelthat was true for old reels with deep spools but now we got shallower spools so it's a bit less of an issue
>>2876662line memory is still an issue. worse casting distance, and worse running of certain lures.
>>2876659GotchaAlright, will do, can see how its a cheaper alternative to hard lures, whats a decent weight for deeper rivers/waters in general?Do I pick lure color/shape based on the weather and the type of water or is there a general safe pick?I wont be ranting, the sea giveth and the sea taketh>>2876661Not sure if this is also directed at me but my spinning reel reads as 3000RD with a 5:1 gear ratio, so if I go instead with a 0.24mm with a 5.2kg rating would that be better instead then? Rod is:>>2876393
>>2876663Mono sucks, outside of leaderline go braid.
>>2876664.24mm is not thick at all so it will be good, but some brands advertise false diameters. sounds pretty thin to be the stated breaking strength. anything under .28mm is probably fine. .26 and under even better.
>>2876665for the most part yeah but braid sound through guides is annoying, as is casting a knot through guides.
>>2876668The 4 strand braids are loud. Use some good 8 strand like power pro super slick 8 or sufix 832 and its reasonably quiet.
>>2876664>whats a decent weight for deeper rivers/waters in general?your rod got a 10-40g cast range, something like 14g won't be too big and withing range, add to that the soft plastic weight, adjust your retrieve speed to reach lower or use methods were you reel up and then let fall down (if it's not too rocky otherwise you risk getting stuck)>Do I pick lure color/shape based on the weather and the type of water or is there a general safe pick?i pick depending on what look like local preys, in my case i got green and white ones that could pass as small perch, but silver ones that look like roach would work great as well
>deadbaiting for zander for three nights straight>only get big perch and an eel
>>2876680good eating tho, perch is greatdunno about eels but i know you can skin it like a rabbit
>>2876681The perch are going straight to my freezer. It used to be common to smoke eel here but now it's turbo illegal to bring one with you since they are so endangered. I'm surprised I even got one.
>>2876682my great grandpa used to fish eels too among other things, now we have to declare every catch and release allwe had a local makeshift contraption that worked like modern feeder method using an umbrella rib at the end of a wood rod to see bites
>>2876683You have report that you caught one?
>>2876684yup, you need to do paperwork if you catch one, with size, time, and location, and maybe a few other things i forgot abouti don't catch eels but if it ever happen i'm not going to do it unless the river janny stand next to me, fuck that

>>2876688Barely even fished this year. It's so bad. Now I have stitches in my hand too.
>gayeye ruining the rivers>100 degrees>unhealthy air due to wildfiresEverything is so over
>bass tard >medium light power, moderate fast action spinning rod>currently using 8lb mono>want less stretch and a line that sinksShould I bother with braid + florocarbon leader if I'm mostly finesse fagging or should I just use straight florocarbon?
>>2876709I thought all bass tards used braid + floro. Some came with a giant bass kit I got as a gift. Not that I’ll ever use it cause I fucking hate bass
>>2876709Use braid and you can either use fluoro leader to sink or mono to float. Braid also improves your sensivity and casting greatly
>>2876709I hate straight mono or flouro on spinning gear due to the line memory. I'd just use some 10lb braid and a leader.
>>2876709braid+leader will be a million times more sensitive than even the least stretchy flouro as a mainline. flouro having less stretch and being more sensitive than mono on average is a complete meme. trust me. flouro is also more expensive than braid if you're talking the good stuff. the only real downside to braid is if you don't like tying on a leader. slight chance of getting a wind knot, and some noise. that's it. considering you're mostly finesse fishing it's almost a no-brainer to go for the superior sensitivity of braid. just make sure you buy decent braid. sufix 832, jbraid grand x8, etc. 10-15lb. alternatively, if you just want to try straight flouro, tacklewarehouse currently has Shimano Mastiff FC on sale for $10. I don't know if it's being discontinued or what, it's only a couple of years old so that's strange. It's nice and soft, I'm currently using 4lb on my bfs setup.
I use mono to a snap swivel and yeah haha I’m just not gonna stop ever
>>287670915 or 20lb braid to a 10-14lb mono or flouro leader, ypull get way better sensitivity and improved casting distance
>>2876709>>2876713>>2876715Retards.Fluoro, mono, and braid all float pretty well. There's a reason why every respectable fly angler is using fluoro tippet for everything, including dry flies. You aren't getting down any faster with fluoro. We are talking about some heavy lead attached to a string. What kind of string you use won't matter unless that string is made of lead. The only thing you can do to improve sink rate is shift from 100 lb mono, a major drag, to 5 lb braid, much less impedance. Hopefully, you're only using heavy line because you need to not because you're retarded and delusional. Thin for the win.

>>2876726>No, we're not. If not, then want. My answer isn't going to change if you're fishing crankbaits, jerkbaits, spoons, etc.
Weird request but are there any Israel themed spinning combos out there? Someone I know wants one.
>swallows your hook
>>2876732Weightless soft plastics. I can see the mono floating on the water and sure it slowing sinks on the lure side of the line but the problem is on long casts. I can't feel many of the strikes I get because 90% of the line is still floating and essentially slack. When I do feel the strike it is delayed and I miss the hook set. When I do hook up I'm losing fish during the fight because the stretchy mono and my delayed reaction is producing a shitty hook set.If my entire line had a tendency to sink with the lure instead of trying to float that would draw a more straight line from rod to lure. More sensitivity, faster reaction time, less line stretch and hopefully more fish landed.
Went fishan this evening, not one bite, except that one time I let my rod on the ground to rig some other shit. The fish bit the fucking swivel that was hanging from the braid. Fuck this gay earth.

I'd post a dick pic, but this is a blue board.I went fishing yesterday at dusk, no luck. I've been a bit burnt out, don't fish as much as I used to. I'm going to try to get back into fishing all the time; it was good for me.
I bet if I put a treble hook on a dreidel it would work as a great topwater bass lure.

>>2876807I was using 4/0 to 6/0 for macks. Macks are naturally big bait though and yt sometimes grab the mack sideways and hold it in its mouth to crush it first like a dogbone before re-position the mack to take it in. My hook is at the nose so it wouldn't hook the yt in thar position. I usually wait a few sec to pull on the fish but there is no guarantee that the yt will already take the whole mack in by the time I set the hook

>>2876848Treble hooks or inline singles>>2876832Its a small net but if you just want to net small fish go for it>>2876844Why not run a stinger so you can crank em instantly?
>>2876853> running and stingerI am considering it but not quite sure yet. On one hand, it makes hook up easier. On the other hand, the set up is probably a bit weaker during the fight and messier to unhook, especially from a kayak. Yellowtails are serious fighters so people tend to go with the mentality of using the simple and most reliable set up to handle that extended fight at max power do you either don't enter the fight at all with a fail hook up or enter it in the best chance/position to win instead of hook up and then lose the fight after wasting 10 min fighting the fish. Trap rig set up is more popular for really poor fighting fish like halibut
So I just started fishing recently but I'm still learning, and having issue with certain people who is a professional angler, have more experience and knowledge but unwillingly to share their info of success, not asking for hot spot nor location, I'm just asking the date and time, or bait usage but he smugly with his pity smile said "secret". What do you call these kinds of people? Elitism?
>>2876862I think he is just bluffing fucking with you about the sekrit tech or bait. Fishing spots and locations are the only true secret in fishing and it is hush hush for a good reason. Technique and baits are so widely shared and you can easily find that info with a cursory search. Also, technique and baits are very subjective as well and most people just stick to their comfort zone, of even what they find cool or fun to fish with, rather than what truly effective. Noone really goes through thousands of baits options and do a thorough experiment to figure what work the best.
>>2876863I mean what truly the most effective
>>2876861Honestly yeah the extra hook flailing about is gonna be sketchy on a yak. I guess just give a longer pause before you come tight, like a full 10-count. Could also run your hooks mid bait if you know they like to t-bone it
>>2876832Get the small Frabill floating teardrop trout net. It's super durable, light, and ergonomic.
>>2876865Yea, I try to count better. I put the hook on the head because it makes the live bait run right when I troll with it behind me. Yea, I need to be more patient with the hook set but when I hear that noise of the clicker screaming as line is flying off the reel after 1+ hours of trolling, time feels really compressed.
>>2876861I have a better hookup ratio when I run the hook in front of the dorsal fin on the top instead of going through the mouth.
>>2876869Yeah that is a factor isnt it. Maybe you could do a modified bridle setup, where you bridle your leader to the head so you can set the hook farther back and still have the bait track nice? And yeah hearing your bait runner go kicks your adrenaline and slows shit down, it took me a long time to figure out how to let a fish take a big bait.
>>2876862he's just being cheekyit depend where, the meteo, the target specie, but early morning or late day work for most freshwater predators, as fishes don't like the heat too muchbut the real wisdom is to go fishing when you can, because even if they're less willing to bite they're still down there

Got this for free because they blew the seam, spent about two weeks sealing and curing and slapped some flex tape on after just in case, it holds air/my weight just fine so far.Gonna take it out to the river once I get a life jacket. Maybe a stupid question but I'm new: is it fine to use powerbait on the hook of a hard/soft lure? Or any other food items for that matter.Another question: is it smart to use groundbait to lure predatory fish? I was thinking what if I don't want to catch baitfish, but use a possible commotion of baitfish to lure in predators to the area and catch them? Thanks in advance. I'm headed to the lake in a minute.
ever buy the wrong reel and you really want the other reel so you've now got two reels?
>>2876959>is it fine to use powerbait on the hook of a hard/soft lure?It depends. Jerkbait, crankbait - not really. It will mess with the tuning and disrupt the action. Softbait - fine, but you could just buy a powerbait softbait. Plus, many are already scented. Inline spinner - they make some with durable scent embedded in the hook.
>>2876959Ypu can try to out powerbait on ypur lures but it will probably just fall off.As for.attracting feeder fosh for predators, i see people do that with chun slicks in saltwater but haven't seen it in fresh water much if at all>>2876960Yeah

Look at this shit, absolutely gorgeous. Sure wish anything wanted to eat worms. Captcha fail ate my image whoops.
>>2876993>>2876994Ah, worms, that might be the issue, smallies usually prefer craws and minnows. A ned rig probably would have slayed, and i bet a whopper plopper 90 would have done well too, even dinks try to kill it. Its funny watching dinks pop on it multiple times and just not get hooked cause theyre only an inch or two bigger than the bait, sometimes they throw it all the way out of the water cause they hit it so hard.
is there a reason why most people who wade are fly fishers? or why most people who fly fish seem to wade?
>>2876995To be fair, I was not there for smallies I was there to make money.>>2876997If I had a fly rod I would have killed today, that's probably why. There are swarms of mayflies and the fish were jumping on all sides of me for them, so I imagine a fly would have been the way to go.
Brothers, a man needs help. The pond I have been fishing probably too much (to at least some overpressure) hasn't given me a single bite in the past 2 days over the course of ~2 hours each night. Last thing I got was this chunkier bass (for southern new england small pond standards). I've noticed there's less surface action overall, and thought it's because of the increased heat in region rn. Can't say for certain though, so I wanna know what you guys know/think if you have anything to offer. What do?
>>2876999Fish deeper?Fish slower?Fish faster?Try glow bait if you're fishing at night?
>>2877000I'm using waders cuz I'm too lazy to buy/use a kayak, and using a poop rod (Dock demon for 20 bucks spent 3 years ago) so I'm probably not going too much deeper, will try tho. It's a bit too weedy for slower action as well. My questions are mostly on if glowbaits are a gimmick or not, and if overpressure is a concern if you frequent a spot too often.
>>2876999since you said it's been hot and you don't see much activit, they are probably in the deepest hole. try fishing on a day where it's raining. or a day after.
>>2877003>My questions are mostly on if glowbaits are a gimmick or not, and if overpressure is a concern if you frequent a spot too often.>Glow baitsI used to toss a glow corky on a bare hook into current and catch salmon at night. If you have an oldschool camera flash you can instantly charge glow baits with one flash too, always used to have one in my bag until I lost it.>Overpressure a concernYeah, especially in smaller bodies of water. Chances are you are interacting with the same fish every time you fish in the same general area and if you're throwing the same thing they're going to learn it's not really food.
>>2877004Alright, thanks, I like rain fishing but it's said thunder the whole week (which is a no-go anyway), to which then there's just been no fuckin rain. Strangely I did see thunder in the distance (Don't think it was heat-lightning). Only real problem with going to deepest area is it's like 30 feet down to the bottom (Carp + Catfish hub), so I'd be bottom-rigging it.
>>2877006Thats actually good to hear, I've been told the inverse, mostly that black lures perform best. Does anything actually glow in the water (actual pond life)? Just wanna know for what soft bait is ideal. Also yeah, I've been working the same shore too often. Only real thing of note is I do fuck around with the fish (I rubbed a lure all over a few of the pickerels' faces') or look around in the water with a headlamp.
>fishing residential lake>a guy not too far from me set the hook on a dink bass so hard he flipped it over someone's fence>he had to ring the door, the home owner grabbed the fish and gave it to him, he took it to the lake and the fish livedI'm surprised how long bass live out of water
>>2876960No I look at what I buy.
More fish on the urchin bait today this time just a 2 and a 3 pounderany anons that haven't tried these yet are missing out

>>2877028Do you live in a desert? Why are you on the fishing general then?On a related note, surely there is some kind of desert oasis near you that floods every 100 years and brings with it some hideously resilient fish species?
>>2877031Think mud puddles with three two inch sunfish.
>>2876978I probably would've spent more, if I were you. I've spent tons of money on fly-related stuff. I also spin fish but not as heavily, so I'm not too interested in JDM tackle. But I could totally see myself going hogwild.

>>2875910What do you guys do about crowded spots such as a pier? I like to fish alone. It’s not that I’m worried about other people “stealing” the fish I just genuinely prefer solitude and fishing is kind of a therapy for me to go be alone with nature. I just went to a small pier I’ve been wanting to try and I turned back the second I saw it had people on it. I just wanna be able to go be alone while I fish. I also don’t get people who if they show up to the spot you’re already at having to stand shoulder to shoulder with you or within 5 feet of you when there’s legit plenty of room for them to go set up 10 feet away if not 50 feet more, do these people see it as a social thing or do they just think it increases their odds? I’ve experienced this at piers and ponds and the beach and even canals so often that I turn around when a spot is overcrowded like today. Shoulda got there earlier I suppose
>>2877133Oh and I meant to say, it’s been my experience that 50/50 if I do go set up at a place like that or within 20 feet of someone they get all pissy about it and spend the rest of the time bitching and moaning about it with little quips like “it WAS a good day until this pig came to fish on top of me” it makes what should be a chill day insufferable. Entirely depends on the type of fishermen but piers seem to attract those types more than anyone. It’ll even be guys who all the times prior to that came and set up right fucking next to me with an empty pier who when I set up 20 feet away get all bent out of shape about it. What’s the deal, are most fishers assholes or have there been an increasing amount of assholes getting into fishing over the last 10 years?
>>2877133>I also don’t get people who if they show up to the spot you’re already at having to stand shoulder to shoulder with you or within 5 feet of you when there’s legit plenty of room for them to go set up 10 feet away if not 50 feet more, do these people see it as a social thing or do they just think it increases their odds? For pelagic fish like spanish mackerel, jack crevalle etc. you're pretty much chasing schools when on a pier. When one person hooks up you see everyone swarm that spot. It's pretty common.
>>2877133>>2877135if a spot is crowded at all i'll leave and go somewhere else, pier and bridge fishing brings out the boomers and browns in my area so i stay away
>>2877140That can make sense, I can respect that in that case.. but I’ve experienced that exact situation catching gay ass little sand perch on piers or even 2lb bass out of ponds>>2877141Those are the types who I’ve noticed get hypocritical about it. They’re the first ones to pull the “you don’t own the water” card even though by the same logic they should be giving people space but then will turn around and throw a fit and moan if you come fish “too close” to them. I’m becoming increasingly resentful with boomers lack of self reflection and awareness and overall entitlement and it’s kind of gay to have to see it in the one thing I do for leisure as well. Browns I don’t think I gotta go in depth there.Shit I even once had a boomer tell me to fuck off in that back handed southern polite way for fishing my neighborhood bridge when he was just strolling by not even fishing himself. Told me about an overly fished blown up spot 10 miles away that was “better” just for me to get my first 5lb bass at that bridge
Fished a different bridge today. Caught something within seconds of casting every single time. And then three different boats decided they apparently didn't like that I was catching fish and they weren't, and decided to blast through the EXACT spot I was casting even though the other 95% of the river was empty. Fuck people with boats, honestly.
>>2877145I always find it when someone manhandles a fish like this, just absolutely clamps down on the fucker. I'm not saying it's wrong, just funny looking. Nice fish.
>>2877133as long as someone isn't a complete faggot I don't really care.
>>2877150>I'm not saying it's wrong, just funny lookingNo, it's the incorrect way to hold a fish. I'd hooked it sorta deep and couldn't get the hook out while lipping it. This bridge also has about 2 feet of sidewalk to stand on and it's an interstate road, if the fish flopped into the road it was toast, so it can deal with some dry scales. Here's the alternate way of snapping a picture on these narrow bridges!
>>2877152And maybe the 3rd largest bluegill I got today. The biggest one was gill hooked, so I clipped the line and tossed it back in no picture. Was my first bluegill with the bulging forehead though, so that was neat.
>>2877143>>2877133There's a saying, 80% of the fish are in 20% of the water. One person catches a fish and the rest of the people move over to that spot.
We bass posting today?Just upgraded my reel from a circa 2012 Pflueger President to a Daiwa Legalis and this was the first bite on it. The President was fine, but the Legalis feels like a huge step up. Casts far as fuck, drag is butter smooth, and it's about a full ounce lighter.

>>2877204Nothing hurts more than driving out somewhere to fish only to learn it's now dry.
>>2877207I think everywhere is dry now, we didn’t get no damn snow or rain this year. There was this big pool with thousands of little baby fish that REALLY wanted my lure so that was cool to see, but yeah guess I gotta stick to willamette/mckenzie
>>2877208The river I waded >>2876994It was almost ankle deep the entire stretch I walked, last year it was waist deep and some areas were too fast to wade. It's a rough year for sure.
>>2877208>>2877212Also fuck it I'll be less vague, I post enough to stop caring I guess. The umatilla river had been trash this year. My stretch of the Columbia had also sucked from the bank, but at leart I'm making $$$ on them pike minners.
>>2877213This year is total pnw rape. No snow no rain so we get record fires and low n slow rivers. I wanna get to crooked river and John day for red band and west slopes but I’m sure all those rivers are just as bad or worse
>>2877174Unfortunately no Saw what would have been my person best cruise by and completely ignore my lure. Reeled in and casted in front of him hoping for another chance, he didn't fall for it :[
Anyone fishing pressured waters and constantly getting skunked needs to try some of the more exotic JDM lures and techniques. A few weeks ago I caught 6 decent bass ranging from 3 to 5lbs hover strolling with a deps sakamata shad while the guys next to me got nothing at all.
Some of the JDM lures I've had good success with.>deps sakamata shad on an owner range roller jig head>deps cover scat>hideup coike (the clones work fine)>geecrack bellows gill>geecrack imo kemushi (the floating one is better if you want to ned rig it)>raid japan big 2way
>>2877238you don't have to buy expensive jdm baits, but they are good. the main thing is to downsize. I like throwing my lucky craft lc 0.5, which is a jdm bait but not terribly expensive at around $10. I do need to get a karashi, been meaning to for years. that thing looks legit. it's funny watching most bassboat guys get skunked because all they do is pull 2ft off the bank and finesse fish whilst staring at a screen. meanwhile I can just randomly fan cast around 50ft off the bank and catch shit from my kayak.

I had a crazy birdsnest yesterday and I think I cut off all the 4lb that I had tied to the 6lb bulking up the spool. Now I’m wondering if I should even tie more 4lb on to get it back to full spool…Does it (full spool) really matter that much for casting distance? Should I trust this 4 year old 6lb mono?
