This is a serious question. I have some land to clear for fruit bushes and fruit trees, and will be milling the larger logs into timbers for other projects. But, I plan to get a chain flail type chipper shredder to to turn all the leftover slash into mulch and compost for the fruit. The land has a lot of raccoons who love to destroy berry bushes. I'm wondering if anyone here has experience putting dead raccoons through a chipper shredder to add nitrogen and minerals to their compost. I'm guessing I'll be making around 4 or 5 tons of mulch and have anywhere from 80 to 120 raccoons to add to it. If anyone has tried putting raccoons or comparable mammals - jackrabbits, beavers, coyotes, etc. - into woodchippers I'd like to hear about your experience.

I'd rather not bury dozens of whole carcasses in my compost pile, and if shredded I assume the raccoon material would compost faster and mix in better. And yes, during fur season I'd save the pelts - unfortunately most of the shooting and trapping would occur during the summer months since that's when they'd be after my berries and plums.

"Raccoons"
>>
>>2876165
No seriously. On the 1 acre property where I live now I typically trap or shoot over 40 raccoons every year. The most I've gotten out here in a year was 47, the year before that was 45 - and I'm only setting out a couple of traps some of the time or going outside with a rifle when I hear a scuffle. One night I shot seven coons in two hours. So, judging by what I've seen at the new property and the future irresistible food sources I intend to plant, I think I'll have to dispose of at least 80 to 120 raccoons in the first year or two.
>>
>>2876162
>>2876167
short answer: no stringy flesh and entrails will gum up a woodchipper.
>>
>>2876167
>On the 1 acre property where I live now I typically trap or shoot over 40 raccoons every year
Lol.
No you dont.
Lying faggot.

Average population density is 1 raccoon per 5 acres under ideal conditions, as low as 1 raccoon per 200 acres in sparse areas.
>t. Owns forest land with raccoons.
>>
>>2876174
>every land is average and exactly like mine
>and raccoons never move anywhere, they're like plants
Fuck off retard. There are at least 7 big hollow oak trees on the property and who knows how many more in the surrounding woods adjacent to the property. Every year a family of raccoons tries to move in to each of those trees. 1 sow, 3-5 kits. Then the boars range through. And trains of raccoons from off property cross mine to go elsewhere. Sometimes after I've cleared out a tree, more raccoons move in the same year. This is in Wisconsin.

My friend had a farm in South Dakota where they put food out in the yard for the barn cats. About an hour after sundown you could turn on a spotlight and see 30 to 40 raccoons from the food bowls to the shelterbelt, raccoons in the barn. Go outside for fucks sake.

>1 raccoon per 5 acres
That's complete horseshit - did ChatGPT tell you that?
>>
>>2876168
Damn. I wonder if someone makes a big carcass grinder for cheap?
>>
>>2876179
Youre a lying scumbag thats going by "this guy I know said..." and using second hand knowledge for your LARP.

Ya I get raccoons on my gamecam every night. Sometimes pretty big groups.
And theyre the same group that my neighbor a half mile away got pics of on his gamecam the same night.
Ive been on racoon hunts with coon hounds. Theyre going to run for a half mile or more chasing the scent of ONE raccoon. Theyre not going to stop at 5 different trees on a single acre of land thay are packed full of raccoons.
If you killed 40 raccoons in a season it would take years for the neighboring 5 square miles to recover the raccoon population.
Youre just some dipshit urbanite that thought you'd make some "omg so funny" thread without any clue of the natural world.

Go ahead.
Post some pics of the 100 raccoons you've killed in the last 24 months.
Faggot.

Alright- cool stories incoming....
>ill probably break it down into multiple posts

Theres a chicken processing plant in town.
>it's fucking gross when the cooker is running. I hold my breath for 2 miles when I drive by.
This is the place where your chicken tendies come from.
Chickens go in >
Everything else comes out. In a form thats commercial viable for some market.
>imagine a shipping container full of everything that wasnt usable for even dog food being shipped to India to make women's makeup....
Serious.

So anyways...
They have this huge grinder. Giggashredder 9000.
They throw all the bones in from chicken, deer, cows- basically any animal from other plants or butchers etc within 200 miles. If you ever saw that huge pile of bison skulls from the 1800s- they were being harvested for bone meal. Its a great crop fertilizer thats not based on molecule manipulation from crude oil.
Anyways (again)...

A circus came through town many years ago.
They had an elephant.
It died.
>old age, this isnt the story of Jumbo.
So what the fuck do you do with a dead elephant thats been sitting in the yard for a day?
Well....
Someone said "hey, I know a place!!!"
So the plant said "ya sure, stick it in"
>we all know that chick

Well.
It didnt work.
The elephant hide was so fucking thick it would jam the machine.
They make safety chaps for foresters that are basically strings to bind up the chainsaw if you hit your leg- thats exactly what the elephant hide did.
They cleared the machine and tried a couple times but finally just said fuck it, got a backhoe and dug a big ass hole in the leach field and buried it.
Every 5 years or so they had to add dirt ontop as he broke down but hes finally settled and its been about a decade now since the last full.

So someday after the apocalypse an archeologist is going to find that dude and there will be 200 years of studies and papers written about how Asian elephants migrated through Siberia and Alaska to the U.S.in the 1900s....
>>
>>2876174
I'm guessing the raccoons don't live on his property but are just passing through OP's acre on foraging trips. This is almost plausible, but he'd have depleted the local population in a few years at the rate he claims.
>>
>>2876197
Im adding this one because it makes me want to puke when I think about it and I want to share reality with all of you...

Imagine for a minute whatever dead animal you can.
Maybe a mouse stuck in a mouse trap that you forgot to check and had maggots on it.
Maybe a dead bird in your grill.
But not just dead.
Not the jerky type of frog you ran over in the driveway.
Maybe those fish you caught and when you got home you continued drinking and remembered they were in the cooler 2 days later.

Now imagine you took all the rotten roadkill on the side of the road and guts from the fish you cleaned and everything that wasnt "meat" from those chickens at the processing plant and you threw (poured?) Into a semi trailer.
And its summer and you only had a 1/4 load today.
So the next day you put all that "waste" into the trailer.
Still not full.
100° out
Another day.
Getting close.
Ok today the truck is full.
Theres a syrup of rancid, decomposing only-God-knows-what slurry and hey....
Who's on the schedule today?
Mikey.
Call Mikey.
>hey Mikey, we have a haul for you.

Ahem...

So Mikey is running down the freeway with a 40,000 pound load with a hazmat sticker slapped on the side.
Karen...
Yep.
Karen jumps on the freeway and decides she wants to be in the fast lane.
>did I forget to say that it was a nice morning, wasnt hot yet and Mikey had his windows qdown?
So Karen cuts across 3 lanes from the onramp.
Mikey slams on the brakes to keep from killing Karen and her 2 demon spawns she has strapped into car seats in the back.
And as he does so.....

40,000 pounds of liquid vile sloshes out of the trailer and completely engulfs the the truck INCLUDING inundating the cabin with rot that can only be imagined in a horror movie.

Mikey got to the yard.
Parked the truck.
Walked into the office.
Dropped the keys and said "I quit".
>>
>>2876200
There aren't 40 raccoons within walking distance of eachother.
Seriously-
When I say "dude there was 5 raccoons at my feed pile last night" that was the same 5 raccoons at my neighbors feed pile.
An acre is 210 feet by 210 feet.
Thas nothing
>see pic

OP is a fucking liar and I will call out all the bullshit when I see it.
>>
You need one of theese bad boys.
>>
Just shot another raccoon tonight, ten minutes ago, lol. That's number 26 this year.
>>
>>2876220
In all seriousness this time:
I dispatch of a few raccoons a year. When people have one ina trap they call and my brother or I blasts it. Idk the english term but we have several spots in the vincinity where everyone agrees dead stuff goes. The Raccoons, rats, roadkill etc. Scavengers are well aware of those places and as such things disappear very fast. It also keeps some biomass in it's natural cycle - unlike cremating it for example.
Ask a local hunter. They might know such a spot.
>>
>>2876174

>Average population density is 1 raccoon per 5 acres under ideal conditions

Well that's just obvious bullshit.
Maaaaybe out in untouched wilderness.
But ANY human presence increases racoon density by an extreme degree.
There's half a dozen racoons living in just the immediate vicinity of my fucking house.

So far I haven't decided to start culling them, they don't eat my garden like the groundhogs do. But they're getting too comfortable by the house.
>>
>>2876239
>theres 6 raccoons in my yard so there must be 6 raccoons in everybody else's yard right now too!!!
>that makes like 200 raccoons in my neighborhood!!!!
Fucking dumbass.
>>
No, don't do it, it will mess up your chipper over time and stink and fuck just don't. Trust me. I've done it. Ive also run my food waste through it for worms, but it makes an unholy mess of things and is totally unnesseccary.

Here, possums are our raccoons, and I pile them up in the compost just fine. I've also composted whole turkeys. Joel Salatin composted whole cows. Woodchups underneath, and woodchips ontop. Chipping is unnessecary l, corpses are so high in nitrogen they break down quickly. Leave it to heat up and cool off and then sit for a while. Consider cappi g compost in soil to reduce loss of nitrogen. Get a compost thermometer to monitor your pile.
>>
>>2876162
i think youre confused OP. the woodchipper is for COONS, not raccoons
>>
>>2876203
Holy fuck i dont blame the guy lmaoooo
But how did it slosh out of the trailer if the doors were closed and such?
>>
>>2876203
I worked for a rendering company as a driver too. The shit we picked up from Walmart was what I found to be the grossest stuff we handled. I’ve also hauled used cooking oil and that was gross too.

OP just compost them. If you have it hot enough and running well enough they should be gone in 10 days.

Maybe a tub grinder would be an option but it’s usually $8k a day to rent one after mobilization
>>
>>2876162
I dunno, test it with some stray cats, they're about the same size but even worse for nature so mulching them up into pasta sauce would actually be a net positive for the world.

Pics or it didn't happen.
This is a slow board, so you can totally post pics everytime for the rest of the year.
>>
>>2876162
just feed some brush in after each raccoon, it'll clear out viscera
keep the shredded coon off in a pile of it's own / ditch, once you're done, bury it to keep the stank down

They use open top dump trailers so they fill it with front loaders and empty easily.

The "sloshing over" events are actually common.

How is this legal lmao
>>
>>2876755
You honestly dont want to know what travels down American highways. Cow guts are minor.

The U.S. government has a "shadow fleet" of civilian truckers that cant be tracked- they dont have GPS or satellite internet onboard that can relay their position to a corporate office like the majority of trucking companies have. Theyre used for sensitive loads (shit like nuclear material). They have a double blind security measure where the truckers dont know what theyre hauling and the government doesnt know where they are to prevent hijackings.
So next time you see a really fancy rig with a sleeper cab but no crazy graphics or company markings remember that it might be full of teddy bears bound for walmart or plutonium heading to groom lake.

Pasta sauce!

>here's the paperwork on were your going, but we dont know where that is.

Bullshit story.
>>
>>2876972
Found the glowie
>>
>>2876972
Theres a pickup location and a destination. How and when the truckers get there is left upto them.
This isnt a secret.
I guarantee truckerfag can back me up on it.
