When you think about it, today is the most amount of nature we will ever have. Tomorrow more land will be developed and we will lose more wild areas. They sure as hell aren't going to put aside valuable land to just sit there for the plants and animals. The only wild we will have in the future is that which is already preserved and places that are literally impossible to live on (like toxic waste dumps)
>>2877277You might be wrong. It just takes one (1) total, all encompassing, existential and global war.
>>2877283If that happens the end of our aerosol pollution will stop protecting us from a substantial amount of heat and lead to a ~1-2 degree Celsius jump in global temperatures within a year or two of whenever that happens, so it'll still be completely fucked even if we stopped all pollution tomorrowWe are so unbelievably fucked that our pivoting to doing absolutely nothing is still almost as bad in the short- and medium-term as us continuing as we are; the problem is that the status quo will give us an even worse long-term outcome because the can eventually will run out of road, and then we'll stop polluting with aerosols whenever civilization meets its end anyway. Look up the climate faustian bargain (basically an expansion of what I've said here) and then think long and hard about ever bringing a child into the hellscape we're actively creating

>>2877277Rewilding is a thing. I live in a valley where all the farms were abandoned about the time my mother was born. The woods behind my house have strands of barbed wire from an old cattle field. The ridge on the other side of the valley was all hay fields when I was a kid, but are all forests now. I remember walking through the fields to visit some rusting abandoned farm equipment. Does this balance out the sprawl that is any major city? Probably not, but it can happen. What's more, I'll point out that the alternative to building out is to build up. Who here dreams of owning a condo or living in an apartment all their life?
>>2877283This will happen somewhere 23rd of 24th century AD. Then archangel Oriphiel will bring divine wrath.
