Strange how not a lot of talk about this on here.I would have expected way more pushback about this shit.https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026/aug/14/bulldozers-big-bend-national-park-trumphttps://www.reddit.com/r/news/comments/1vp0p3y/devastating_bulldozers_plough_through_big_bend/
>>2877735>omg they drove a bulldozer into a desertLmfaoI cant believe youre trying to pearl clutch over some baked dirt and scrub trees
>>2877751Crossings dont happen in the big bend area. Theres a single crossing thats not even a bridge, you have to ferry or ride horses at low water. Mexican villagers from the little hamlet of Boquillas used to cross it to sell trinkets to tourists but that was it. No vehicle crossing. Then its 90 miles through broken low desert to the nearest towns of alpine or marathon. Nobody crosses there. It does not help any effort to curb immigration to build there and only detracts from the national park
>>2877756Gonna have to say that the people in that area probably have a pretty good handle on what goes down in that area. There's what, 10,000 people in that part of Texas? You think they doing know what's up there? It's totally possible to skip the wall there for now, then see if it's a problem later, then build it if it is.
>>2877760Preserved Nature is just as much a construct as the Nation State. I choose to protect both because I am capable of abstraction.
floating the Rio Grande through Big Bend is one of my dream outings. please don't make this impossible
>>2877910The rio grande is literally dry broYou arent floating anywhere
