Best way to carry water for a day hike? Going to be in Costa Rica for a few weeks and need a solution other than just carrying the bottle around. Don't want to carry around a whole backpack just for a camera and water bottle and those Camelbak packs make you look like a homosexual. I'm thinking about getting a canteen that clips onto a belt loop, are there any better options?
I fill a condom at the local water hose then shove it right up my ass. You absorb water better if it's already at body temperature. The only problem is that getting it back out can be akward in a crowded area.

bump for interest
get a crossbody canteen attached by a sling. Belt canteens are noisy and awkward and you look like a larper. The soft wineskin is perfectly fine as long as you aren't dealing with heavy weights that could put too much pressure on the bag and cause it to break. if you want to larp you can get the larger army 2qt canteen with a strap. Although honestly green army canteens are shit from my experiencecambaks are stupid nu army shit just like tactical rails and webbing having to be on everything. Belt canteens are not comfy at all and are actually very bad.
>>2880572you will look like a fag with anything other than a normal small backpack with water bottle pockets
>>2880572also been trying to figure this out. I got on 3-4 hour day hikes that start from my front door and often only need a water bottle and my phone. Even if a tiny backpack looks fine, its just overkill and I feel like there's gotta be a less cumbersome way about it.Been thinking of attaching something like this to a belt
I use this.
>>2880667>making your girlfriend carry the waterBased ngl
a thermal bottle in my backpack keeps water delightfully cool
>>2880618>picI've always wanted one of those but then I remember there's no way to boil it. I guess it's time to learn to do one myself, stainless steel container with some larp cover material that can be taken on and off.
>>2880572if you wanna go the canteen route a molle canteen pouch like picrel will be more comfortable on a pants belt than the alice style one in your pic, just shove the vertical straps through both rows of horizonatal straps with your belt between the horizontal rows.if you don't care about aesthetics you can find ACU ones for like $5, otherwise you can get either solid colored usmc surplus or chinese repro ones for around $15-$20. the alice-style ones like your pic will work but the metal clips will dig after a while. this can be mitigated if you replace the clips with zipties, but then you can't take the pouch off without taking your belt off.>>2880618>Belt canteens are noisy and awkward and you look like a larperA wineskin is significantly more larpy imo, like an actual medieval fantasy larper. Modern military-style gear can be more easily excused for it's affordability, versatility, and durability .
>>2880627this, you will find shit to carry in packbug juice, snacks, first aid kit, hat, gloves, butt-wipes, sun glasses and case.
>>2880572>Don't want to carry around a whole backpack just for a camera and water bottleWell you should, especially since you should probably have more than one bottle. I had one of those belt canteens, they're OK but the water bottles that live with my backpack are Asian ones because they're thicker and better for reuse.
