Why did people stop bringing salami and cheese to camping trips? Its literally all you need

love me ploughman's, simple as
>>
I prefer beef jerky and cheese.
>>

We stopped? I didn't get the memo
>>
gay vegan and hyper optimized "ultralight" trends
i still bring salami, cheese and a beer or two
>>
>>2881003
how can ultralight be against meat/dairy? it's the most nutrient dense and complete food there is. per gram of weight, it's not even comparible to anything a vegan could think of in terms of nutrient density and scope.
>>
>>2880989
>cured meat
enjoy your cancer
>>
>>2881004
didn't meant the two together necessarily
>>
>>2880989
I like Spanish chorizo with manchego or parmesan. I always pack some for lunch.
>>
>>2881005
nigga posting from 1994
>>
>>2881004
anything that isn't bought at a 500% markup in a sports goods store prepackaged in portioned plastic bags doesn't qualify as ultralight. sorry but this is the rule.
>>
>>2881004
nuts beat them im fairly sure. they also store better while warm (basically forever) and you can easily eat half a kilo if needed
>>
>>2881028
complete vegan lies
Vitamin C: Nuts have virtually zero vitamin C, which is needed for immune health and skin repair.Vitamin B12: Found only in animal products or fortified foods; nuts contain none.Vitamin D: Nuts do not naturally provide vitamin D, which helps the body absorb calcium.Calcium: While almonds have a small amount, most nuts are very low in calcium, which is vital for bone strength.Sodium: Raw nuts are naturally sodium-free, meaning they do not provide electrolytes unless salt is added

>Why did people stop bringing salami and cheese to camping trips?
because dehydrated meals
I don't want to eat salami + hard cheese every day, multiple times
and generally, dehydrated meals will be more nutritionally more balanced
plus you don't have to eat the same thing all over

also Salami / hard cheese is still super common to bring
not sure what's your problem

>>2881003
>vegan
has literally nothing to do with vegans
also salami is really easy to replace with soi based "jerky", cured seitan or dehydrated tofu
I often hike with vegans and this is what they bring
the jerky actually tastes fine (although it's ultraprocessed slop)
>>
>>2880989
I do, but I bring a local dry thin salami we have where I live, it's like jerky, you just eat it like that, don't need to even slice it.
I don't bring cheese because it alwasy 'sweat' it's fat making all oily and a mess.
>>
>>2881028
>and you can easily eat half a kilo

enoy your diarrhea
>>
>>2881028
Nope, you shouldnt eat more than 30g a day. Nuts are shitty food when you are really really hungry
>>
>>2880989
The good thing about that is you dont need a stove either. i see all these emaciated dudes eating cold soaked ramen, poptarts, peanut butter, like where did we lose the plot man. But seriously its cause most hikers are faggots that think high fat is bad or atleast unoptimal. You need to get enough protein and meat and cheese is literally the only way to get there other than guzzling down protein bars
>>
>>2881030
Micronutrients are irrelevant in the context of recreational camping and hiking

>>2881050
>you shouldnt eat more than 30g a day
Fucking what?
>>
>>2880989
I still pack hotdogs and cheese. There's something about cooking a wiener over a fire that makes it taste better than grilled.
>>
>>2881045
>I don't bring cheese because it alwasy 'sweat' it's fat making all oily and a mess.
There are plenty of cheese that don't do that though, you have no excuses for not eating delicious cheese
>>
>>2881028
Fuckin chipmunk over here
>>
>>2881045
>>2881068
Parmesan or Romano does the best for long trips in the heat, but if that's too sharp/salty, a \smoked gouda/edam will keep just fine
>>
>>2881058
nut and fruit allergies are the most common food allergies in the world. this is the main issue vegans don't realize. it proves that humans are not supposed to be vegan. something like 75% of the world has some kind of nut or fruit allergy. meanwhile the only way you can be allergic to meat is some very rare tick-borne immune system sickness. and it may even be bio-engineered. you simply cannot beat meat in terms of nutrient density and scope. there is a reason vegans have to eat so much food per meal that they are literally bloated and farting constantly.
>>
>>2881005
Sooner or later we all get something wrong with us.
>>
>>2881239
KEK
>>
>>2881272
Something like 75% of the world simply shouldn't exist either. We'd have more unspoiled wilderness and a healthier planet that way.
I think we can take out like 15% on a single subcontinent and see a significant improvement to the biosphere and quality of life overall
>>
>>2880989
Because it is not neolberally correct.
Gotta be vegan and eat artificially foods. Gotta be progressive and be a new man.
Salami, cheese, milk ,butter is from the past.
The new foods come in powders in bags.
>>
>>2881362
ok, you get to be part of the 75% that goes away though, thanks for volunteering
>>
>>2881349
Yes but does it mean we have to spite up the process?
>>
>>2881413
Hope you have at least level iv plates, anon

I bring a combo of whole foods and packaged foods, depending on the difficulty and duration of the trip. The whole foods gets eaten first, and I move on to packaged food next. Makes things more interesting.

this is in reference to backpacking. Canoe camping or bike packing, typically much more whole foods. Just depends on how quickly it'll all spoil.

Shalom /leftypol/
>>
>>2880989
a good salami, block of cheese and a bun are the perfect lunch for a hike and you cant convince me otherwise. The only other food item anywhere close is a pre frozen cinnamon bun that thaws as you walk.
>>2881053
bingo
>>
>>2880989
You forgot beer. You need beer as well
>>
>>2881492
Woops, silly autocorrect! I meant red wine, obviously.
>>
>>2881504
No no, sorry! My drunkard brain actually meant to type whiskey!
>>
>>2881473
aunt tedina is /leftypol/, but you knew that agent glowstein.
>>
>>2881251
So generally the harder cheeses handle heat better? Sometimes I hike when it's over 100f/38C.

>>2881362
Jeets are an existential threat to all life on earth.

>>2881412
Stop trying to redefine that word nigger. Neoliberals is anything left of Monarchist. (You) Are a neoliberal.

>>2881529
nta, Ted transcended your faggy political spectrum. He despised the left and the right.
>>
>>2881533
Hunter S Thompson and Ted Kaczynski are two sides of a coin in a way. Both men I respect.
And yes jeets are a threat. A lot of them are also lactose intolerant and have nut allergies too (partly because the percentages scale with their population size, which is in the billions).
Frankly if you can't digest a prevalent food source such as nuts, considering we as humans are opportunistic omnivores by nature, you shouldn't remain in the gene pool.
>>

>>2881541
ted was made by the CIA and he did exactly what he was made for.
