>>2881126Where's your knife, sis?
>>2881129>first aidI have some bandaids, gauze and alcohol gel. What else should I bring? >>2881130forgot the put it in the picture, I will bring an opinel I have
Do you plan on eating more than 1500 calories over these 3 days?
>>2881126What are you doing for water?
>>2881132I will resupply in the middle I will going to pass a village>>2881133plenty of spring and glacial water in my trail
>>2881131buy some superglue. Either get the right industrial one by research or just buy stuff from the vet like Surgibond. you need to get the right chemical. some glue can cause chemical burns or release bad chemicals. you can glue gear and bodyparts. get some leukotape, for heavy bonding as its a inc oxide-caoutchouc real sticky shit. and some Hansaplast/ Elastoplast less sticky but what you can use to cover wounds. and again you can tape gear and bodyparts. >>2881126pan is likely heavy but i can understand is as a comfort choice. though kinda shit for boiling water with no lid. add some aluminium foil as windshield and lid for near zero gi would be fine with just spoon no fork, im ok with eating like a Chinese construction worker and just slourp all down. add a garbage bag as packliner and an actual Ziploc bag as a real garbage bag. also pooping there are no designated shitting streets in the Pyrenees powerbankwaterfilter /pills like Micropur Forte 20€ extremly small. though i guess you can just boil if the water source is dodgy.. hat / Sunscreen?rag for cats bathadd some sneed and seed or chocolate trail food so you have tiny no-cook snacks
>>2881143The pan is pretty light 260g I just need to boil water for the coffee so it's ok.Good points about the superglue and the pooping part, I need to get a pooping shovel, also more food and snaks before I resupply.I already bringin a hat, powerbank, aquatabs and bags for garbage.
>>2881143>buy some superglue. Either get the right industrial one by research or just buy stuff from the vet like Surgibond. you need to get the right chemical. some glue can cause chemical burns or release bad chemicals.Bro just get newskin
>>2881146I've never had an issue finding a rock to dig a cat hole with but yes a trowel will be easier
>>2881131Add an elastic bandage for ankle sprains, ditch the alcohol and get single-dose betadine containers if you want a disinfectant. Alcohol makes wounds heal more slowly. What about the rain jacket? I recommend wool socks and to carry or wear a wool shirt too. Titanium is now cheap on aliexpress, 25 euros at most. Much better than that pan. It looks like you have a nice setup.
>>2881156Could get aluminum pot too. difference is not that great and it's got better heating properties. He's got eggs packed so the coin sized hotspot that's great for water sucks for food. Though the difference negligible I have some alcohol and iodine qtips in my micro setup. There are those single packs cloth ones too. Some people use drops, because you can used it for some waterpurification too.>>2881147I don't mean some liquid bandage I mean actual medical 2-Octyl-Cyanacrylat type 'super glue' used in operations instead of Sutures. Liquid bandage stuff is neat too but not useful for wounds that need hard closing or hold under sweat and tension. Though it is overkill for most things. But deep cuts happen sometimes only used it twice in 15 ? years rockfall laceration and a deep tuna can cut. Vet stuff is cheap and blue / purple so you can see the glue and identify it if you want to do proper wound care later. It sticks to hair and für. It's even more non-toxic and more water/saliva resistant because pet love to eat ass and then lick the wound.. >>2881146For the food I sometimes carry my own containers because I want to buy fresh fruit, milk cheese or meat at the butcher or market. Yeah it's extra but a old plastic jar will keep my strawberries non squished. Or prevent the leaking of cheese when it sweats oil in the heat. Or simply to get rid of bad original packaging. Or to cold soak or store leftovers. When In town buy something fun. Ice cream, bowl of fresh blueberries some potatoes chips. Piece of cake at the bakery etc.
>>2881156Titanium is great for boiling water but I wouldn't recommend it for general cooking because it concentrates heat too much.
>>2881181This, it also burns easy, need a lot of stirring. At least you can scrape everything off with a rook and not the damage the titanium. I've always gone back and forth on different cooking materials, I can never decide which ones the best.
>>2881178>>2881181>>2881183I ditched aluminium completely since it has been investigated of being a cause of alzheimer's disease, it's not worth the risk. Cooking outdoors isn't necessary nor efficient in terms of weight. It is better to have meals not requiring heat or dehydrated ones that can have hot water added. OP is likely packing those eggs hard-boiled and in their shells, they will last a few days out of the fridge that way. The most common ultralight setup seems to be a titanium cup and lid nesting on a titanium bottle, speaking of which I recommend OP of having a way of carrying water even if sources are plentyful.
>>2881190>aluminium completely since it has been investigated of being a cause of alzheimer's disease, thats a myth from the 90s or so ? no evidence was found that pots are a issue. study was disproven. but if you have any chink stuff good luck.... you simmer something with acid, like tomato sauce, you are getting metals. stainless steel leaches Nickel & ChromiumCopper needs coatingPFAS breakdown is pretty well known.Enamel can have Cadmium & LeadAluminum is the third most abundant element in the Earth’s crust you get like 95% of your dose from food... Aluminum hydroxide antacids or aspirin are 1000x the amount... unless you are shaving down your pot every meal yeah you never gonna top a single Buffered Aspirin pill. i know some people a giga emotional tinfoil hats about aluminium but you can just google it read for 5 min and buy a good cheap pot. also 20 meals a year from that pot will have zero effect. the PET bottles you drink from daily are worse.
>>2881196I doubt anyone has any interest in debating over this.
>>2881143This nigga heading to a pike square battle
>>2881197in the past out had some schizo rage every time it was mentioned. i dont think people care these days. and heatexchanger pots are popularalso no need to derail OP thread>>2881126when the hike btw so we can look out for obituaries?
>>2881244Yes, no need indeed. You don't have to reply to everything, especially if you disagree and have nothing to add.
>>2881255>You don't have to reply to everything, especially if you disagree and have nothing to add.Good idea; you should follow your own advice.
>>2881268See what I mean?
>>2881244>dying on 3 day hikekek, i would def bring bear spray on a longer than day hike
I'm backWhat I've learnedThe summer quilt was not enough for the mountan night, Windy says it was 9ºC/48ºF but it was probably lower, I had to resort to my down jacket and I was okay-ish.Allways bring some thick wool socks for the night, they saved my ass.I would preffer a filtering system instead of the tabs, had to wait 1 hour was not very versatile.Other than that It was pretty good and I did not miss any other gear
>>2881410with tab its best to have at leat 2 bottles one you drink from and one on the clock.but it does suck if you are empty and want to drink and refill. keep in mind sleeping bag ratings are bs. its better now with the newer EU rules. but still fantasy.old rating is something this:>Comfort: The temperature where a standard woman sleeps comfortably in a relaxed position without feeling cold.>Limit: which a standard man could sleep in a curled-up position without feeling cold.>Extreme: The absolute survival limit where an average person can avoid life-threatening hypothermia for six hours, though sleep is impossible and severe discomfort or frostbite risk remains. best part/worst part of the trip?
>>2881418The best, almost no people despite it was a weekend, the nature, I climbed to a 2880m peak for the first time, a very nice challenge. The worst the free roaming cattle bells making noise the whole night, I would bring some earplugs next time.
>>2881410>>2881418>>2881432Good on you, OP. Why wanting a filter when you already have the stove? Considering you will have to stop to eat anyway, timing water resupply and boiling it at meal times would save you time and weight. I would not touch the tablets but in an emergency, myself.
>>2881126all those things in the pic can not weight 3.25 kg!Just th tent alone is over 1kg.gas bottle is 300gr and so on.
Where is your high powered rifle, princess?
>>2881467that's nonsense, why spending gas, time and energy to boil liters and liters of water instead of doropping a tab in a bottle or filtering that takes less than 1 minute?also it was very hot during the day, reaching 28ºc/82ºf you cannot just drink water when eating, in that heat and with a positive climb you lose a lot of water>>2881479tent is 960gbackpack 400gmat 500gquilt 400ggas is a small 100g onedown jacket is 300gpillow 40gother misc stuff around 500gI said base weight, no food or water
>>2881467Tablets are kinda nice because they are so small and reliable. If you add a charcoal filter on your drinking line you don't even get any strange taste. Filters are great too but have limitations. Boiling is nice for meals. But I'm not gonna stop at a water source whip out my stove boil water wait for it to cool down so I can fill my water bottle without the PET melting. And do this 4 times because I carry 2x1.5L bottles but only a 600ml pot. But you could do this at meals but I usually don't cook for lunch. And not always does it overlap with my water source. I might have lunch on a viewpoint or summit where there won't be water. I guess you could carry dirty water and sanitize it when you stop.
>>2881486Chemical tablets are a short-term solution, I doubt they are healthy. My suggestion is that you boil water in bulk, obviously. Nobody had tablets until recently and that was the way it was done. >>2881490Consider titanium, you could boil water in the canteen itself, wrap it in a cotton or wool rag and put it in the backpack still fairly hot, provided you had a silicone o-ring. >I guess you could carry dirty water and sanitize it when you stopA large collapsible canteen would be useful for that.
>>2881496>Nobody had tablets until recentlytabs were around since the WWII>I doubt they are healthyso you don't drink tap water at home? they use basically the same chemical: Chlorine
>>2881499Have you ever hiked with a Browning M2? That has been around since 1933. If I showed up to my scout troops with tablets I'd be laughed off the camp, kek. No one used them, nor were they easily available anywhere but in specialist shops. Use what you want. You're the one that's going to carry that.
>>2881496Well they are a short term solution but for 99% of people her clean water is a short term problem too? They will always have a place because the tablets are sub 1g. You can use drops like Chlorine dioxide, iodine or bleach depending on the level of pollution you expect. And it's enough Florida and chlorine in the municipal water to make the frogs gay anyway. Btw You can deactivate it with vitamin c.
>>2881244is she ok?
do you have grease for your frying pan? dont want your food to stick
what about a uv-c light you could place in your water container? add a portable solar panel and you would be fine for a really long time
>>2881719uv light is not a good method, for it to work the water must be 100% transparent, any particle in the water will create a shadow where bacteria or other patogens will not be afected by the uv light.tabs are the most light and easy way
