Have any of you ever took produce from the grocery store and grew the seeds that came out of it? Or grown unintentionally? I heard those are called volunteers and they're really cool
>>2882099i grow some of my volunteer tomatoes and peppers every year. most of the time the tomatoes end up being cherry tomatoes, out of 10 volunteer tomato plants only 1 grew big tomatoes. peppers are better, out of 7 volunteer peppers all but 1 ended up being tabasco peppers like the parent plant, no sign of cross pollination but there is one plant that appears and tastes like a tabasco/ghost pepper cross. picrel. prior years ive had habanaro/hghost cross and also hungarian wax/tabasco cross. peppers are pretty forgiving the only problems ive encountered was poor yield. people cross breed winter squash and i guess that makes some cool looking squash, they call them frankenstein squash
>>2882105hab ghost sounds interesting. have pictures?
>>2882106no it was last year, it look like a habanaro with wrinkly skin, but was sweet and super hot like a ghost. watch the documentary about the guy who made the Carolina reaper. he is a pepper cross breeding autist.
>>2882108You better have saved seeds from those, that sounds amazing
