Last thread >>2868475This is a thread for enjoying a pipe while doing outdoor activities. If you ask why this belongs on /out/, you've never spentan evening by the campfire with a pipe silently enjoying the nature around you, and you're missing out.>how to get startedPurchase a corn cob pipe (or a cheap briar pipe) and a pouch of Half and Half or Captain Black tobacco from a smoke shopor online. You will need a lighter or match, and something to tamp it with--a large nail works well if you don't have a pipe tool.Fill the pipe with tobacco, pack it down halfway, top it off, pack it down to 3/4, top it off again, pack gently and enjoy. Smokeslower than you think you need to, the tobacco tastes best when it is burning cool. Tamp and re-light as needed. If you stillhave trouble, try different methods on YouTube until you find one that works for you.>smoking a pipe will give you cancerOriginally the Surgeon General found that pipe and cigar smokers, following a careful study of the statistics (at a time whenmost adults smoked, so they had a good sample size), had insignificant death rate increases. Nowadays, tobacco is beinglegislated against while hard drugs are being legalized. Put two and two together. Tobacco is just another good thing under attack by the government.>muh weedNot the time or place. Start your own thread. All tobacco users welcome.
What is everyone smoking now that autumn is here?
i need recommendations for 3 blends that are interesting/weird, i don't care what they are so long as they're still being sold
>>2882163C&D Mississippi Mud, Cascadia Pipe Co. Vertical Limit, Briar Works Bacon Old Fashioned
>>2882145>If you don’t smoke pic rel all day you smoke cock and know nothing about the mental effects of good tobacco>Expensive pipes are retatded. The experience is about the tobacco. “Muh cooling”. lol. Corncobs are the coolest smoke. You just want to buy expensive trinkets>Long pipes are likewise retarded. I see some of you walking around the woods trying to look like fuckin’ bilbo using a pipe with more design than purpose. Don’t pretend keeping that dumb shit clean is worth the time.>Filters are for queers. Unfiltered and inhale the smoke fully like a savageThank you for reading my blog.
>>2882163Two Brothers Redwood is pretty interesting. Not sure how popular or well known it is
>>2882174are you me?i buy cheap old new stock pre 70s pipes with condensers, tho i switched from early morning to standard mixture, the cold smell after smoking isn't as strong
>>2882177I just use cheap ass MM corn cob or hardwood depending on the season. Corncob in winter up here doesn’t heat up to warm the hand as well during outside snow sessions. When I tear them up or forget them outside or decide cleaning would be stupid then I just order new ones. Frankly, I should get in to making them myself because I really only want one shape repeatedly and don’t care if it looks wonky.I get exactly what you mean about the cold smell. It’s one of the reasons i consider my pipes “ruined” so often. I’ve got a couple nicer ones set back to the side for special blends. I found Standard Mixture to be very surprisingly sweet (too sweet for me) and it doesn’t have that same head feeling I like. I like Presbyterian mix too because it’s so perfumey and dry but it too lacks that specific mental acuteness.
>>2882186>>2882177Cold smell? Wtf. I've been smoking for years and don't have any issues with how my pipes smell when they're not in use. Do you guys just never clean your pipes? They are meant to be cleaned, you know. Some pipe cleaners, a little bit of strong ethanol, and the occasional paper towel or reaming does wonders.
This and haunted bookshop my go togot a few others when I went to Japan and a nice wooden pipe made there but the corncob is still probably my fav
Anybody got any resources on simple pipe making? I’d imagine the bowl itself is fairly straightforward, just a drill press. I’m worried about shanking it and getting the shank such that it could fit a standard bit. I do have access to proper equipment but I want to do it right if I’m going to start.
>>2882193At a certain point any blend with noticeable Latakia is going to get deep into the wood/cob/whatever. Cleaning a wooden pipe with alcohol sounds irritating. I’ll smoke them to the point where I don’t like them anymore and then get another for $20. Since I smoke heavily I’ve got 8 of the same pipe in rotation for dryness. They don’t go out very often.
>>2882193i do clean my pipes after every use, also you're not supposed to do the deep alcohol cleaning with cotton balls and all every so often, briar absorb it and that can damage it over time if you do it too oftenbut as the other anon said, some blends do leave a smell, like the smoke can leave a smell on clothes and everything>>2882261now maybe that's a bit excessive, if i was you i'd just do corncobs myself
>>2882261>I've got 8 $20 pipesall this to avoid doing a little cleaning on your pipes? why do you not want nice things?
>>2882240literally all you need is 2 drill bits (one if you wanna ironman it)other than that, go for both mm & imperial drill bits, and build around the stem you have in your hand rather than the stem you're gonna getafter than, having a dremmel with a meat eater helps to shape the bowl into what you need before you sand & knife it
>>2882261why spend an extra $20, when a wet pipe cleaner will fix months of not cleaning?i understand laziness, but its more effort to buy than to have a couple things in a drawer
