Any deer hunters in here? I had a crazy experience last night, it was dark and I took my dog out down the driveway, (deep in the national forest of northern Michigan). Suddenly all these huge birds in the fully grown maple trees above start flapping there was probably 20 of them. I’ve seen a flock of about 20 turkeys in the area that past few weeks mostly younger ones 1-2 years old and a couple older females. They start flapping like crazy above and my dog starts going crazy and runs into the woods. I’m calling him and he doesn’t come, so I start shining my light around and see him in the trees like 20 feet from the driveway. He doesn’t even respond or look at me. As soon as I stepped one foot into the woods, I just start smelling this god awful smell. Before I can even react further, my dog starts rolling around and I scream NO! I run over and with my flashlight see all these fresh drops of blood around that look like chunks of flesh mixed in. The smell was just nasty. I pull my dog away and start looking around and I can just tell he has blood lust now totally crazed. I’ve only seen dogs acting this way when their owners got a deer and brought it home and the dogs get deep ancestral memories triggered.Couldn’t find any dead animals around, but the smell was just nasty in like a 20 foot radius of the area. This morning I went back out and the smell was mostly gone, there was a few large drops of blood but it had mostly dried now. No puddle or sign that an animal died there. The only thing I can figure is a deer hunter got a gut shot from a deer and it ran away and cut through my yard and dripped gut shot blood. But kept running and died somewhere else. I don’t even know if the birds flapping around were related to the blood or not but just a coincidence. If they were vultures or just wild turkeys roosting in the area. Pic related one of the dried chunks I found this morning when I went back to investigate.

Went back out again and found a bigger chunk of meat about the size of nickel
That smell is called Death.Could have been any animal.
>>2882455Vultures will vomit their food if you startle them, your dog may have woken them up and freaked them out enough for them to do that. Especially if the meat in in chunks like that.
>>2882527Very interesting I never knew this. It could have been what happened. I know there are vultures in the area but I’ve never seen so many together at one time before. It also makes sense why there was so little evidence left over the next morning, if they threw up there food and I saw all the throw up but then later that night they went back down and ate the evidence again. Thanks for the response that’s very interesting.
>>2882539You're welcome, I made the mistake of startling a bunch on the side of the road one time while they were gorging themselves on a deer carcass and one threw up on my car. Fuck it was horrible and I was lucky that a few miles away there was a car wash. Still had to wash and wax my car so the acid wouldn't mess up the paint later. But yeah, they will absolutely gather in big flocks, especially if there's something big that died.
