the item doesn't need to be shit or useless, it just wasn't useful for your case
I bought a morakniv since I seen youtubers use it for splitting logs and other shit. I used it for splitting logs and making kindling from sticks but I leave it home now because I could still start a fire without it.
another item would be a tarp. I bought one since it was going to rain but I ended up sitting by a tree with my rain jacket and I was like 99% dry

You're retarded. Just because it's possible ylto split wood with a knife doesn't mean it's a good idea. You can split wood with a karate chop too.
Moraknivs are good, cheap knives

Which model, OP? Picrel is my regret Mora purchase.
Tarps are pro-level. Give it another shot. It's the 1st thing I set up in camp.

Most of them are.

companion. I just bring a Leatherman since it has a decent blade and other shit like can opener, pliers, etc.

That knife is like $20 on amazon and a tarp costs like $10. How are these "regret" buys
>ohnoooo i spent my life savings($30) on cheap but practical gear that i dont need because i typically trek less than 5 miles
Surprise surprise, turns out you dont need any gear at all when your /out/ trip is just you splitting logs in your backyard then walking your dog for 30 minutes at the local park around the corner from where you live

i regret buying a suunto clipper, never once had a need for a compass
i regret buying a mora garberg knife, it is inconveniently large
i regret buying a multitool/leatherman, never once had a need for the tools other than the knife
i regret buying big fat leather boots, much more comfortable with modern trail runners
i regret buying a zippo lighter, shits dry after 1 millisecond and the bic has never once failed me

>garberg

>leatherman
mine lives in my car emergency kit and i've never used it
>leather boots

>zippo
