I have never created a piece of art that I like. I never came back to anything I did months later and thought to myself "hey, this is neat".

I can't use my hands to create shit. I can draw geometric shapes. I have nice handwriting. I can play open chords and bar chords on guitar. But that's where my physical skill set ends.

I picked up a camera because my hands are no good. Only to realize that it's probably not my hands, it's my brain. I have little to no visual imagination. I can memorize rules that make photos look more pleasing, but I can not get beyond that in terms of intent with my photos.

Over the last ten years, I resigned to the realization that I can't create anything because I have nothing to say. I have no personality. I have no opinions. I have no stories. Just things I point my camera at.

reminder, the most hated poster on /p/, the biggest autistic (genuine aspergers autistic) gearfag specs theory fag there is, has produced at least 2 good photos despite being one of the three dog fags stuck in gearfaggotry rabbit holes

these niggas are gearfagging 24/7. doghair even owns a medium format digital he bought JUST to post test shots and btfo fool framers. and they still produced some memorable photos. of their dogs.

in fact, doghair produced THREE memorable photos. this, the egg in a bone dress, and his dog watching an eagle. that's 3x more than huscuck (window forest overlay husky) and corgcuck (that time he photographed a womans ass)

maybe your problem is you're literally taking photos of dirt

Aimless photography is rarely rewarding. My advice would be to work on what you recognize as your weakness. Creativity or vision. It's a muscle like any other and yours is clearly very weak, but it can become strengthened with consistent practice.
You can work on your creativity in a lot of different ways. One way that has worked well for me is to stick with a single subject or object to be your main photographic subject. Pick something you like that is readily accessible and/or always on hand like an egg for example. Work on creating images with your chosen subject instead of just taking pictures of them. You have understanding of photographic principles so use those to guide you. Spend the majority of your time setting up your shot rather than pressing the shutter button.
Don't give up hope bro.

>>4495983
Aside from you saying I've taken some nice pics I think your biggest compliment is that I've somehow outdone the likes of canon, cinefag, and the sony shills to become the most hated poster. Thanks!

The biggest test of if you have creativity is to open notepad and write a one page story.
See the thing with writing is you cannot use any excuse about your gear or needing to buy something.
You also cannot make any excuse about living in a boring place, or just living in a boring era of time.
With writing you can create anything, in any time period. You have zero excuses.

If even with the ultimate freedom to do anything, you cannot even write a one page story or figure what to write about its time to sell your camera and all your photography gear. Creative hobbies are just not for you.
>>

Is your husky okay? You haven’t posted her in a while
>>
>>4495989
We like the sony shills here. They’re the only rational posters since they recommend cameras that are just good, small and affordable instead of contrarian memes. Sony is the #1 full frame brand in the world.

I'm glad some people are finally understanding that cameras are tools for creating media, and not some funko pop that gives meaning to your life. The cargo cult of consumers who just buy whatever product of the month currently trending YouTubers are shilling and think it's going to give them attention and validation is very sad. Have something to say or show FIRST. You cannot find meaning or get the attention you actually want by randomly taking photos of scenes you encounter on the sidewalk outside your home.

This is one of the more retarded takes, I think. There are plenty of photos out there, many on this board right now, that are aesthetically pleasing and completely worthless at the same time. I would go as far as to say that an aesthetically pleasing image is worthless in nine out of ten cases.
>>
>>4496025
>husky
Not mine, closest I've been to having a husky was looking at buying a Husqvarna 2 stroke. I have no purpose for a dog, maybe I'd have some Cane Corso if I went hog hunting.
>>
>>4496047
>aesthetically pleasing and completely worthless at the same time.
Oxymoron
>>
>>4496075
To an art-conscious mind, meaningless aesthetic is about as damaging as heroin to a junkie. It’s not only worthless, it’s a mind killer.
>>
>>4496047
What are some examples of worthwhile photos?
>>
>>4496082
NTA, but there's already two good examples in this thread.
>>
>>4496085
There are no good examples in this thread. A worthwhile photo makes you physically ill when you look at it.
>>
>>4496086
Well the two photos are of dogs. One is taken on high contrast film and printed in a dark(dork)room. The other is an extremely blurry picture of a dog taken on a digishit camera. Both of those pictures will produce extreme discomfort and/or physical illness in at least some people regularly posting on /p/.

>>4496089
Yeah extreme discomfort in their pants

There is no implicit value to anything. You have to choose the things you value. Your pictures will never have implicit value. Nobody's does. You can choose to value them though, after all you've kept them around for this long. One must imagine sisyphus snapshitting.

>ITS....DUH DOGS
it's probably not but dogs are definitely more artistic than any leica brand rep jewslop "with something to say" you like
>I PHOTOGRAPHED... UGLY BLACK PEOPLE! I'M "SAYING SOMETHING"!
Ugh.

jews can't make art, they can't define art, they can only make degenerate mockeries of gods creation because they hate Him so they redefine art as a lowly game of charades and make it all about their verbal IQ (the only IQ they have that isn't 1/3-1/2 SD below average), thus the real art becomes the critique of increasingly opaque charades
only aryans can make True Art and in dogCHADS we see this, honoring the beauty of God's creation with deeply sentimental photos
>inb4 but a jew redefined art to include his ugly degenerate shit and another jew appointed him the art expert!
no one cares. go back to epstein island ya freak.
>inb4 a jew got an honorary nonaryan to make ugly jewish "art"
no one cares he can go back to epstein island along with you

jews are ontologically evil and all jewish "philosophy" and "thought" is wrong by default. the sole function of their culture is to redefine evil as good to trick god. from the day a jew can read, he is educated in the talmud, a big book of case law wherein jews of the past sumrise they have successfully tricked god so long as god behaves consistently with what they believe is his word as if it were a modern legal text.

>>4496543
I think he's just autistic as well. You can tell when an angry poster is autistic because they don't understand or have the capability to understand that sentimental photographs like ones of a beloved dog that only lives for a decade plus or minus a few years have much more value than any picture of a random building corner or people's backs.
Not so much value to other people as a singular photograph, but a wegman-esque series absolutely has potential for greater appeal and value in a general artistic sense if the photos are well taken.

>>4496545
My photos have been posted and referenced in this thread by another anon completely out of the blue. My time and money is not wasted enjoying a hobby I love and taking pictures I think are important to take as best as I can.

This is pure depression coping. Art is art, put soul into it and if it doesn't make sense, try again. This is how every artist feels (that isn't a fag), and the mind will always put up road blocks. That is an apt test for someone wanting to do narrative cinema, not stills photography. A better test would be to recreate an scene from some text. To act for a moment like an AI for some scene from a novel that acts as a prompt. You can paint it or make the photograph after arranging the scene in real life. Painting requires skill but no props.

>>4495973

Who are you quoting?
All I'm saying is that you should approach photography like you would approach painting. Not riff off some circlejerked jew that the (((tastemakers))) put on a pedestal. The photographic eye is developed by creating, not by imitating.
>>
>>4497217
In fact, if you feel the drive to rip something off (essentially to do a remake) it's healthy to suppress that. It's saved me from making derivative slop countless times. The gear trap is often a cause of this. There's a slick use of a prism filter in a 70s Italian horror that's photographically themed, I nearly remade that before I realized what I was doing. I ended up stopping myself from getting my hands on the filter because deep down I knew I was merely aping, not creating. If I come up with a good enough reason to use the effect I will. Until then, no way.
>>

Alex Burke

>>4497233
Setting aside the jew schizo posting, I agree that trying to mimic an esthetic through gear alone is consumer logic (although, to each his own, it might work as a gateway for some). What I mean is that it would be foolish to expect anyone to do great photo, or any great art, if they aren't passionate with the media and inspired by some masters.

American boomerism says that if you cant succeed starting from dirt you dont deserve to anyways

Cinefags autism against learning from others is pretty close to boomers exhanging their kids inheritance for more foreign vacations and saying “work harder you fucking slob”

Dead hobby, dead board.
>>
>>4497283
Photography is not a hobby. Just as buying car tools or pencils are not hobbies. You use photography to supplement your actual hobbies.
This is the truth for the 99%.

This is also why half the board is just people walking around taking "test shots" or ""street"" """photography"""" because they dont have anything interesting to do with their lives.
So they walk around, camera in-hand trying to find any excuse to press the shutter button. Then the board ends up with entire threads of random uninteresting building corners, the back of people's heads (because engaging with people is scarwy), or random puddles.
>>
>>4497284

Pretty spot on. /p/ is essentially a worthless board outside of a few threads (birds, macro, and insta shares) now because no one here does any real photography. All the people here do is randomly snap walls, puddles and benches while walking to the bodega and defend objectively bad(ly overpriced) (or just bad and ill suited for real life) cameras like micro four thirds, fujifilm and snoy (and DSLRs) from their deserved haters, and all that gear defense comes from the perspective of people who snap walls puddles and benches and think walls puddles and benches are what most anyone is going to use their camera for anyways. I believe the wall puddle bench people actually have aspergers because normal person shit like friends pets and kids doesnt register to them as a high priority or worth considering when selecting a camera or picking one up to use, and they actually seem to think wall/puddle/bench snaps and backs of heads are high minded artistic work

I see strong indications that many actual pros have come and gone and they’ve been repelled by these “vibing” puddle snappers when they inevitably got into an argument over how bad fujifilm cameras are for being $2000 equipment or how no, DSLRs are not just as good or better, take that loud pos out with your friends and kill the mood, mirrorless is better

I'm probably a better photographer than 95% of people on this board. No, I will not post photos. You can take photos of whatever you want with whatever gear you want; it doesn't matter unless it helps or hinders in attaining your vision. Individual photos can be mediocre but add to a set in a way no other photo could, but you still need to able to produce individually strong photos. Photography can be an artform, but that's above the /p/aygrade of most here.
