Idk OP. You tell us.

No, pics are not enough to tickle all the ADHD brains these days, we want more content and faster
>>
>>4505077
As an actual ADHD fag, the tickle can still happen it just doesn't last very long / we don't care faster than normal.
Absolutely are a lot of zero-attention-span zoomers that just straight up don't give the slighest shit about photos because of short-format video rotting their brains.

Take photos for yourself, not other people. Why do you care what the masses of sheeple pay attention to anyway? Most people are morons.
>>
>>4505042
Who cares man just take pictures if you're into that life is too short to worry about what other people think
>>
>>4505042
What difference does it make
>>
>>4505042
Of course they do. They take selfies or photos of their pets for social media.
>>
I don't like taking photos as much as I like editing them
>>
>>4505213
I much prefer to just fiddle with gear all day instead of taking photos, to be honest.

Photography was never an art form. It was a novelty. The supposed greats were just rich people who could buy a lot of film and darkroom shit. Back then, pre-google, even knowing how to get an in focus photo of a tree was an uncommon skill and one hour photos/film labs did not exist. Simply reproducing dogshit readymade snapshits using novel and expensive printing processes was sufficient to get into a gallery - easier if the photographer was jewish or jew affiliated, of course. No one wanted to offend any victims just a generation or two removed from the leica freedom train after all (look it up and finally realize why street photography is laden with leicas and judeans).

Now the truth has risen from novelty’s corpse and old sacred cows have been ground into burgers. The true art form is and always was directorial talent. Staging. Creating a narrative, not finding one. Lying with a camera. And most people don’t have it. No, most people don’t even want it. So most photography is finally revealed as just personal memory snapshots and pretentious trash of absolutely zero value (ie: backs of heads, people walking, building corners).

And everyone with the power of the true art form (directorial talent), the true human act of creation and self expression, has gone to video, a medium that is 1000x more lucrative and allows the artist significantly more room to tell a story, and forms of portraiture (including staged documentary photography) usually with a political bent to make a human directed, machine made painting more interesting than it actually is and try and convince the cattle for a second that it’s not entirely made up.

If you manage to catch the attention of a normie for more than a couple of seconds you have done a good job in my opinion. Most visual stimulation is over-saturated these days, be it movies, games, photos, paintings and similar. We have seen it all before and we are tired of it.

normies that like decorating (which includes almost all women) will appreciate good (read: professional-looking) prints of photos from an interchangeable lens camera
the argument for phones / against pixel peeping is always "nobody can tell when they look at it on a phone" but it's easier than ever to order prints from walgreens or whatever, even poster-sized and then pixels start to actually matter

There were only 2 types of photo people anyway.
One will take a stack of pics and go thru it in 1min and only ask a few questions for the whole stack.

Me, the other type can look at one photo of decent quality
and get lost in there.
That will never change and has never changed.

I think what's his name with white hair on Youtube is correct, people see "high end" technically perfect photography as resembling AI and thus inauthentic. Nobody wants to see f1.2 Photoshopped HDR photos with perfect lighting. That's what their iPhones cheat at. It represents fiction. They want the imperfect authenticity of a photo clearly taken by a camera with a harsh speedlight flash, soft focus, motion blur. iPhones and AI generation don't allow these imperfections.
>>
>>4505042
Short form video with audio and a caption on it is the most information dense media ever created. A photo really cannot compete unless the subject is extremely compelling. And in that case the form of the photo doesn't matter much at all. On top of that, you guys are trying to learn over years at great expense with various gear purchases what AI can do infinite times a minute based on a large data set of technically exquisite photographs. There really is no chance at all you see.
>>
To be fair with the " masses " why should they care ? Most people see thousand for photography each month without noticing, it doesn't matter if you are not exposing/selling print, this is where people who love photography seek beauty, not the masses.
>>
I like some of the gaga songs but what the fuck does she know about cameras
>>
No, the age of 1080x1080 compressed jpegs that you are posting on Instagram is over, nobody cares, either you start making vertical videos or you just fade into irrelevancy.
>but i buyed canon r5ii with rf 50mm f/1.2 and 24-105mm f/4
Nobody cares, masses only care about short vertical vids.

nope. we had a brief window of time when they did thanks to instagram and when IG died so to did our chance as amateurs to get any kind of recognition. sucks
>>
>>4507103
Just organise your own exhibit in public spaces, it's the only way to get real recognition from real people.
>>
>>4505856
This is the right answer. All photography content these days is a short form video of some fag making a dumb face with a caption like "this is the unique way I use flash in street photography", then a 3 second clip of go pro first-person footage of shooting the pics, and then half a dozen photographs shown in quick succession.
I do wonder what the point of it is. I've actually reached out to people that have a ten's of thousands of followers on instagram doing this type of stuff, and then I ask them if they actually make money or get gigs the answer is almost always a no. Turns out having a million Indians watch your videos doesn't really translate into much of anything.
>>
>>4507105
Also, a lot of this stuff feels extremely hollow. People do a lot of gimmicky shit like going crazy with color grading, editing, all sorts of visual effects, etc. to catch the eye of the underage double digit IQ short form content audience and in doing so they create mostly empty images. It's all style no substance. Pictures that look good for 5 seconds while scrolling through instagram reels, but have absolutely no staying power beyond that.
There's also the issue of having to conform to tastes and guidelines. You will never get a Saudek or Joel-Peter Witkin coming out of the instagram "scene" because work like that cannot be posted on there nor would the audience be receptive to it, so you end up with a predominance of 2013 tumblr "omg this so aesthetic!!!" types of sensibilities.

>Photography was never an art form. It was a novelty.
It's okay to admit that no one liked your bad pictures despite spending money on an m6 or whatever anon. Just because you're bad at it doesn't mean it's always been just a novelty.
>>
they do, as long as you take good pictures of them. i've taken some amateur portraits and people were always happy about them

>Be me
>Go touristy place
>People ask me to take picture of themselves with their smartphones
>I do my best
>They say "Oh it's wonderful", "It's so good", "(to their companions) He's really good photographer"
>I still find the composition is lame as fuck and i don't like the exposure blahbla and start to feel like i'm an imposter who pretends a 'good photographer'

Am i just socially anxious?
>>
>>4507184
Most people are functionally illiterate concerning photography. No concept of framing beyond pointing the camera in the direction of the subject. No idea about lighting except possibly that dark = bad. Just thinking about composition at all puts you comfortably in the 95th percentile.
>>
>>4505042
nope. and hence the hobby and this board is dead too. what are you going to do with all your gear you collected like funko pops now?
