Most of the time the 24mm and 100mm eq camera on the phone are all you need. If you use the Moment 58mm, you get 50mm on the main camera, which looks nice for portraits, and if you use the Kenko on that, you get your close focus back.

That's perfect for snapshits. If you use the moment lens plus the close-up, you'll get out of focus background with no AI bullshit needed. A big camera is not going to take better pictures for what you want.

Big cameras are for:
- chasing bokeh
- long telephoto shots
- PC control lenses

Sony is good as a professional option, good image quality, good videos, best autofocus. But if you want something that really brings joy, fun and a great experience, then I would recommend against Sony. They always feel like a computer.

The Leica Q3 could be a good solution as other anon suggested. Small enough to bring everywhere, lots of mp for crop so you don't need more lenses. The best 28mm lens you can get in that price range. AF good enough for your scenarios. Video is alright, though not the best because of its rolling shutter.

If you don't mind additional weight another good camera is the Leica SL3-S if you look at the used market. They are already in the 3k range, which is quite cheap for what you get. But it's big and heavy. Still a joy to use.

Nikon Zf may also be a good hybrid camera if you like the retro look.

Thing with zoom lenses is that they are quite big, heavy, expensive. But it can be indeed the only lens you need. You can shoot wide and tele without changing lenses.
I'm a fan of primes and use my feet for "zoom". A combo of a 28mm+50mm prime can be an alternative. Another popular comination is 35mm and 85mm.
Do you have a camera store nearby? I suggest going there and taking some camera bodies in hand to see what feels good ergonomical.

As for a daily:
The Ricoh GRIV would be the smallest. Lens is sharp enough to compete with the Canon. Almost anything else requires a small bag again.. for example the fuji x100vi or x-e5. Almost any dedicated camera is better than the iphone. It's the physical restrictions of the phone, look at how tiny the sensor and lenses are. Thats why they use lots of computing to improve the image quality and make them look nice. If you look at photos just on the phone you may not even see the difference in image quality, but printing it's night and day.

Or if you buy a compact system camera like the Sony A7CII with two primes, you can get compact enough again for a daily. Might not need a second cam then anymore. But in that scenario I would rather go for the Leica Q3 as my all in one solution and call it a day.

The lens on the Q is one of the sharpest you can find. Sharper than anything Canon RF except maybe that crazy 50 or 135mm. And in addition the Q3 has no AA-filter which increases sharpness again a bit. BUT that said, all modern lenses are actually sharp enough. You won't see much difference if not zooming in to 100% on your 4k monitor. It still gives the images a pleasing amount of detail that make them look a bit more alive imo. But not everyone agrees. Some may even recommend you a shitty made in thailand a7cr with a voigtländer lmao

I use an e906 and cloudlifter so I don’t have to replace my paintings with sound deadeners. It’s way less sensitive to room effects and the high mid cut switch makes vocals smooooooth. It’s also good for recording saxophone and guitar.

For video, A7V is better than A7RVI unless you are using 8k but I never liked 24p for handheld or active subjects. Seconding the 20-70mm. If you are using a camera while playing with your kids, the extra wide angle helps. I have the A7V and 24-105/4 and there have been a number of times where I wish it went wider especially if you try to do any selfie type stuff. On the other hand, wideangle distortion can look pretty ugly when you are close and the extra 30mm is helpful when you are outdoors or at events. The 20-70mm is a good bit lighter which is a huge plus. Sony's IBIS for video is still not as good as other brands so if OP is into handheld video, Canon might be better. But they don't have a 20-70 yet.

For wedding/formal family photos, a flash is a good idea. Maybe a couple AD200s and modifiers with stands if you really want top notch family photos and portraits but something like the iT32 I think which has the wireless removable section could be a good starting place. Just a little bit of fill makes a big difference.

Capture clip, belt holster (could be a bag or the spider thing) is also something I found useful versus a strap as I've found it gets in the way less when you need to be using both hands.

Once you have your A7V and 20-70mm, flash and tripod, I'd wait and then see what you are missing. For me, my indoor lighting wasn't good enough for the video quality I wanted so I upgraded my lighting fixtures and picked up some LED lights. Also the 24-105 is a little cumbersome so I got the little 28-60. It also turns out I tend to shoot at around 50mm so the 55/1.8 makes a lot of sense but maybe you might prefer more wide or more telephoto. If you go 55/1.8, the Zeiss one has been around forever and is super cheap used; Viltrox also makes a good one that is sharper with less chromatic aberration but I like the Zeiss for less vignetting and quieter AF. However, if you have shifted more to handheld video like I have, non-Sony could be better.

OP, please just buy a general purpose zoom with a wide aperture. You have the money for it and if you don't like it, just put it on eBay and eat the fees for insurance and whatnot. You'll get 85% of your money back.
