>>
>>4518711
could you post the default jpg/whatever raw converter you used output? I'm curious to see the difference because I would have the sky be much brighter although it's going to look less saturated.
>>
>>4518712
You think it’s a little rockwellian?
Valid.
The version I had printed maintained the bit of hazy white clouds around the mountain tops there but when resizing for /p/ I figured I’d play around with tone curves.
I notice a lot of “professional” photographers use masks and tone curves like crazy and color grade all photos to create specific instagram themes. It’s a neat concept that I have been trying to learn so don’t judge the edit I posted too harshly. I’ll post the original this afternoon.
As a side note I also bracketed for the photo and created a blend because this was taken outside of golden hour. In order to get the sky blue without the highlights completely blown a second image was taken 2 down so there’s no single “default”

Feel slightly uncomfortable about posting this, but please critique. I'm still relatively new to photography, and I know almost nothing about landscape stylistically. Tried to get kinda cute here with the composition, but I don't know if it really works. This is Mount Lassen shot from just under the summit of the nearby Cinder Cone that I nearly died (of exhaustion) climbing. I wish Cinder Cone's grade was slightly more symmetrical with the trees', but I still like the idea.

>>4522788
This feels really cinematic. I love the foreground, and the rocks in the distance look awesome. Where is that?

>>4523181
Holy shit, I love that. What aperture setting was this taken with? I love how much detail you have in the clouds despite the depth of field very clearly separating the foreground and background.
>>

Thanks for the compliments. First pic is low tide at ao neng Thailand,

Second pic, Andes foothills along the way to MP f/8.

Wish I had some tip or critiques for you, but I’m a noob too. Nice pic tho, I appreciate the foreground consideration

Not great content and composition-wise The blurry rocks in the foreground are just an ugly distraction from the mountain. There are no interesting elements that "point" or lead your eye towards the mountain in the background. It just feels bland and boring overall. The cloudless sky doesn't add any interest either.
Aside from the blurry foreground rocks it is a well executed shot on the technical side, so there is that at least.
Scout locations with good fore, mid, and background then wait for the weather to be bad enough so there are cool clouds and then catch some interesting light.
Excellent landscape photography usually requires a lot of time scouting the perfect spot, patience to wait until ideal weather, and commitment to planning and executing that plan when all the elements align for that one perfect shot, or just hike a lot and hope you get lucky. :D

I like it, but there's a big mound of rocks and stones blocking about a quarter of the photo.

Apologies if this is more suitable for /gear/ but what are the pros and cons of different full frame systems for landscapes and is there a recommended "gold standard"? I'm mostly looking for more megapickles and better dynamic range, a lower minimum ISO and better low-light performance than the hard-working K-70 I currently own. Digital MF seems great but I don't do photography for a living and don't have a trust fund.

And to keep things more on topic I'd appreciate any feedback on this older photo. The crop works pretty well IMO but it was also something of a necessity because I had some crap on my filter and didn't realize it until later. Oh well.
