Danny Thompson, went 396mph through the measured mile with a 406mph exit speed after this pic. Won the Hot Rod Trophy 2nd year in a row.
These guys flew in from Japan a couple years ago, plucked this 240z out of a field, had it ready for Speedweek in 6 months and set their class record in it.

Very good. I appreciate a good panning shot and there's plenty here that I can only be jealous of. As an /o/tist I am double jelly, but really you've got a good blend of action shots and behind-the-scenes. It's always fun to see the boomers on the salt flats, and bringing a bit of life to /p/ is welcome.This might be my favorite just for minor reasons like the slight tilt and the real backyard-style motorcycle, as well as how you've kept the shadow of the beast trailing towards the edge of the frame.The 240 with the dinner plates >>4521926 is just fuckin' great though. Anyone can go take pictures, Speedweek is the wild west of motorsports it doesn't have all the red tape that NASCAR and F1 has, anyone can show up and not only take pictures, but compete. The only thing that sucks about the press pass they issue is you have to do it months in advance, SCTA is a small organization and the months leading up to Speedweek they forget to check emails and if you try to get one at Speedweek it's a pain. There are people that get passes that I swear are on here I saw some guy with a Mamiya 645AF here, a bunch of film Leicas showed up, lots of film cameras. It's pretty cool, I brought my RB67 one year.
This Mexican landscaping truck went 263mph. Last year they lost a hood and someone from Salt Lake City drove out there with one they found in a junkyard, they modified it to fit and set a class record next day.
Diesel VW truck with a Golf TDI 1.9 swap
Andy Green did 367 on two front-end loader diesel engines pulled from a JCB, and set the record at Bonneville, almost got the Hot Rod trophy, then did 406.320mph this week setting the FIA world record for hydrogen-powered vehicles. Had he done that 406 during Speedweek it would have been a Hot Rod Trophy win as well. I spent about an hour around this car so there will be pictures of it here later.

I shot them too those will be on here later I'm between errands today so just posting what I can for now. This was a busy Speedweek I shot over 5000 images. A lot of them were just holding down the button on my D3 and D4 and letting them eat while cars went by.This car packed it in early, the salt at the big end sucked this year and anyone with big power couldn't put it down toward the end. I could hear these guys over the horizon hopping over shitty parts of the salt trying to get traction but couldn't see them because of the curvature of the Earth. This is a 300+ mph car.

I have a few of this guy. He lost control at the 3 1/4 and bought the farm. Frame broke in half, engine separated. Driver lived, we had another one early in the week wreck too at the big end and he also survived.
