I've only ever shot on film, looking to buy a dslr. What's all this other stuff, the CDs and other cables. Is it important I buy one that includes them?
Or am I fine with the camera body, CF card and battery alone?

You need a camera body, a medium telephoto lens, a memory card, a battery, a charger

you can get a card reader that plugs into your computer for 15$ at any Best Buy in the country
