What are your favorite modern photographers that you follow on insta, flickr, blogs? I want to follow some more work of others but all the popular ones that come up always are those influencer promoting their gear that they change every month. Many years ago I really liked Takashi Yasui's photos but damn they aged badly.

The point of posting on insta is to earn money through advertising or to make people click somewhere. No serious photographer uses it as a portfolio.

depends on how you are sharing. Assuming from your comment, ny 'sharingc you mean getting randomly discovered, then it's only marginallly better than ig. personally in hate ig as a platform but it fulfills the role of an ubiquitous profile where i can show people pics and send portraits. tumblr is cool tho since it gives you way more control over presentation, and is not login-walled

Well yeah discover would be nice, it just doesn't seem to happen on Instagram anymore. I used to able to dump some photos and I've get a few dozen likes and comments from random accounts that didn't even follow me but that seems to have dried up around the time of reels.

It's much better than Instagram. Less social but much more control of your photos as well as your page. Your posts can least for years on people's feeds versus Instagram's 12 hours.
