I tried to check out other online places for photography and it was utter dogshit. Is /p/ really the last bastion for would-be auteurs?

In my experience on my threads and others, following those simple rules always result in cool interactions and feedback:1. Post a series of some sort, not just one lazy pic 2. Curate your work, don't do a SD card dump of 300 random shots3. Have somewhat of a project and explain it. If it's artsy you can give a brief statement and let the photos speak, but if you are covering an event you need to give a bit of context and story telling because yeah nobody gives a shit about technically good photos of a random gathering (>>4525124 is that you?), especially if you are just depicting what was without a specific style. I know this might hurt some but this is 2026, everyone has a camera, if you want people to care yes you have to actually make an effort to make your stuff stand out, even here.4. In last case, it's someone else story and I'm only capturing the right moment that is supposed to carry emotions and "feeling" of the scene. I guess this also covers modifying scene to accentuate those parts. In the past I could also try to capture moments carrying the mentioned atmosphere of cons but I'm being told frequently that I shouldn't take pictures of people, who didn't agree to that - but then again, "sniper" takes are often the most honest and thus best. Why don't you try to photograph those cosplayers in conditions where you truly have the opportunity to showcase them and their costumes, such as posed/studio shots with matching background and good light?
