Lens Compression EditionFormer thread: >>4529005
>>4531549damn dude learn how to use the bracketing function on your camera and merge raws for hdrIt should look as natural as just using a better sensor as long as you use quality software to do it (ie: capture one)
>>4531549Would it be possible to get a similar framing without the cables intersecting the skyline? Other than that noising up the scene, I really like this. Cool spot.
>>4531589I have saved every photo of yours that I came across, textbook VIBES
>>4531350Here you go, corrected version. The previous thread was at image limit. The fact that the would-be parallel lines converged towards the center were the dead giveaway that it was distorted.>>4531466It's not just the house or the old castle, even the light poles were crooked.
>>4531607Now, before anyone jumps like a rabid dog, I am aware this correction isn't perfect. I just did a quick thing in Lightroom and as I said before think the picture is a dog that's not worth wasting much time on. This is done to prove a point, not to have a perfectly corrected picture.
>>4531607thx bro
>>4531618>>4531607Like I said: not a single straight line in this pic. I tried to adjust the horizon by using the roof of the boat and turns out it's already level. You just corrected the shit out of reality to tickle your autism.
>>4531619I also shot shit while sitting on the ground so lens was possibly pointed up fucking up the perspective even further. it's just a vacation snap, let it go. If I was serious about this pic I'd bring a tripod.
>Correcting perspective distortion in postOh my god, just stand further away and use a telephoto. This >>4531607 looks like blurry shit.
>>4531623>just stand further away and use a telephotoJust completely change the look of your scene with a drastically different focal length.
>>4531619>You just corrected the shit out of reality to tickle your autism. No, I corrected the tilt of your camera, it was pointed up. When you straighten the horizon you correct the horizontal (respective to the image) tilt, I corrected the vertical.>>4531621This sounds closer to the truth.>it's just a vacation snap, let it goI'm not attacking the picture, I'm proving wrong the people who claimed I didn't know what I was talking about.>>4531623>just stand further away and use a telephotoThat changes perspective and introduces compression. A technical camera would be the way to get it distortion-free. But I'm not advocating for that, I'm just saying the picture can be fixed with just some distortion correction. It shouldn't be controversial.>This >>4531607 looks like blurry shit. It's just downsized to 1000px wide as customary.
>>4531625Alright maybe there was a problem with distortion caused by the camera not being completely level in all axes but your original claim was that it affected edges of the image and was caused by optics and not my poor photography skills. Now every time I'll see this photo instead of remembering the beautiful weather and the fun I had I'll think of cANON. Fucking brilliant.
>>4531549This could have been a killer shot if you did what >>4531552 said.
>>4531624Yeah, well, if you physically cant shoot head on with a wide angle, you either do that, or you use a shift lens/shiftable sensor. Keystoning in post can look really bad if it's more than a slight adjustment. cANONs image is a blurry mess. A high res keystoned image can have other issues like perspective abnormalities and aliased edges/resolution loss. This is why a lot of people like wider lenses than ~28mm equivalent for landscapes and architecture. the perspective distortion is so extreme you can make it look intentional instead of sloppy. 28mm is better for street level shots where you can be head on with the subject.
>>4531629Just use the filtershttps://pastebin.com/diHque73They block out basically the whole gear thread and any gear threaders that escape containment
>>4531629>and was caused by opticsI said it was likely. Your crop made the perspective distortion hard to distinguish from barrel distortion.>Now every time I'll see this photo instead of remembering the beautiful weather and the fun I had I'll think of cANON. Fucking brilliant.A you problem.>>4531552>>4531631>advertising/beggingCapture one shill samefagging as usual>>4531632>cANONs image is a blurry messIt's really not, it's not a huge correction really.>>4531633>advertising/begging

Why does moonlight looks so sickly under long exposures?
>>4531903I don't think it's moonlight. I think it's crappy artificial led light that fucks with both WB and color sepaaration, creating these stupid green hues.
>>4531606thx anon i wasted like a hundred bucks on like 5 mavicas. never been a photography person but i find this fun
>>4531925This one is great.
>>4531926This looks like a stock image from a high-quality college textbook, and I say that as a compliment. I like it.
>>4531960Thanks. I really like that building. Got other pictures there as well but I think that ones the best. Bought an rf 28mm recently and definitely going there again next time I'm in the area to try it out
>>4531975I wish I got a proper picture of the whole ceiling this is the widest angle I got but I really dislike the composition (or lack thereof)
>>4531977>>4531975You would have a fun time with a 14-35mm f4
>>4531979Traded in my rfs 18-150 for the rf28mm so i've been looking for a standard zoom lens. I was thinking of getting an old efs15-85 since they're cheap then later upgrading to a tamron 17-10 but the rf 14-35 may be the right thing for me
>>4531925I like this one. Good job.
>>4531631No it wouldn't. Fuck HDR
>>4532011>Fuck HDRWhy? You can make it look like your camera has more dynamic range without making it look unnatural. Static scene like this one would be ideal for stacking. With a good edit you could get an identical looking photograph but without blowing the shit out of highlights in that garage.
>>4532011HDR doesn't mean what you think it means. HDR means combining multiple exposures so the final raw has the data that would otherwise be lost outside your ISO setting's dynamic range - NOT that you have to pull it all into the visible 8 stop range of the print/screen and make an unnatural photo. If you do it right its the same as using a superior medium like a bigger sensor or real film. it doesn't mean boomer HDR where there is no white or black anywhere. you can even still blow the highlights, but since the highlight data is actually there with an HDR merge, you can roll them off so it looks natural instead of like digital clipping.

>>4532081I think this image would work better in BW. Really nice shot but I dislike the colors.
>>4532100HEY HEY
>>4532013>>4532087The best photos that people remember fondly are shot on film with even less dynamic range. HDR is like the marvel movie CGI slop of photography. I'm not even a film fag btw

>>4532517that's the reason why I stopped offering critique and feedback and i'm sure it deterred many more people. Getting an incomprehensible error message after you have carefully written feedbacks up to the character limit with no indication of what you did wrong and how to fix it sure is a great way to spell "fuck you!" to your users while providing absolutely 0 benefit. meanwhile enforcing rules against gear threads and jew posting is apparently out of the question ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

>>4532602>no, only muslims can colonize the holy land. Per the PLO themselves (Zuheir Mohsen, 1977) a "palestinian" is any non-jew who was in the region two years before 1948, the palestinian people do not exist, and it's just a political tool/grand scale taqiyya to make the holy land part of the greater caliphate and denying jews residence in their ancestral homeland. There were <300k people in palestine from 700 to 1900 and then a literal million arabs joined the race to colonize it firstYou thought you were watching a replay of manifest destinyIn reality it's just two tribes of sand people fighting over who gets to colonize a patch of desert that neither was living on prior to the 1900s

surprised I got this shot with my d60 and the 40mm DX lens, handheld too. I discovered that combo when my three year old wanted to take photos so I put the settng on AFC, auto ISO, f2.8 and I just dictated the shutter speed... let him go wild. And then I started using it again and found a new interest in the old thing just for snap shits and family hikes or whatever.

>>4533289The joy of photography and the idea of having some memories to go back to when I'm old.
>>4533289>I've only been out once this year. What motivates you to take pictures? Great thread so far.I vary from wanting to make something artistic and cool looking, to just simply wanting to document something for my memory. I heard something a long time ago about the unreliability of memory and that each time you think of a memory, it distorts a little and details become lost. Anyway, I'm also feeling pretty uninspired lately. I'm barely taking photos lately and I don't think they're that good (pic related being the most recent). Maybe I'm just tired out, I don't know.
>>4533289>What motivates you to take pictures?I think it's somewhat similar to these anons >>4533599 >>4533595 . Taking a photo is like freezing a frame forever, it will never be quite the same ever again, but that picture just keeps it that way. I found old family albums that were shot with an old film camera, the photos are printed and put in sleeved albums and they hold people who aren't even around anymore. I guess that's what made me get into taking photos, I don't want to forget.I don't aim to be a pro or anything, I try to take pics of everyday stuff, and also sometimes go tryhard for something (that I think is) aesthetic. And I try to have fun, since I seem to have forgotten how to do so...
>>4533605I loved old family albums as a kid. Maybe they influenced me in some ways.
I recently got into fake colour infrared photography, fake aerochrome if you will. Ofc it's on the budget, so this is from old Nikon D70 with hot mirror removed and a cheap replica of Kolari IR Chrome filter from Ali. I think it turned out okay, but there is this red cast I can't seem to remove without loosing the bright reds (they turn yellowish orange when other colours are natural).
>>4533610Here's another image with white balance and hue corrected (same place, same day).
>>4533610I think it's magnificent. Colors are super saturated but work together somehow. Would love to see a series.
>>4533608cute dogAnd yeah I didn't think much of them when I was a kid but now I really appreciate them>>4533610>>4533611these look amazing, it's really special
>>4533610I've been trying out IR as well with my full spectrum ZV1. I think entire color casts can be neutralized easier if you set a custom white balance on what your new "gray" would be. At least for Sony, it has to be in body balance and not in post since even the raws can't recolor correctly with IR and UV being exposed. But since its beyond visible light, I would probably call it a base balance rather than a white balance because the IR shifts things towards red/magenta.
>>4533610>>4533611Damn that's nice, I've only done traditional IR myself
>>4533599>I heard something a long time ago about the unreliability of memory and that each time you think of a memory, it distorts a little and details become lost. spooky if true
