My first time posting here. I don’t even know anything about origami but got a cousin the hospital and have time to kill. Also works like to teach her some stuff. Any good simple and funny stuff that I could make but also teach her how to make? Stuff that looks cool but really simple. Also cute.

Thanks in advance!

Can't go wrong with the classic crane either

seconding the crane, also the boat thing is cool if she's not like terminally ill and you can talk about launching it once she get's out of the hospital.

The crane is the OG GOAT S-tier origami, of course, but for those who know the lore, it's kinda morbid to teach that to a girl in hospital.

Btw I’m the OP and I’m still checking in. Thank you for the recommendations. The crane story is beautiful.

This little frog also looks pretty ez and fun:

You might consider getting some colored paper to make things prettier (but not construction paper, too thick).

As I recall (another board tourist here), the key to starting origami is learning to make really sharp creases with your thumbnail. If your creases aren't sharp in the beginning steps, things will fall apart when you try to build on those folds later, which can be frustrating. Sharp creases can also be torn straight, very useful since back in school the first step was usually tearing a strip from letter-sized paper to make an even square.

Hope she gets well soon....
