The price of alcohol is a reliable indicator for the state of the economy. The lower the price, the worse the situation.

Picrel is from German supermarket leaflat and I have never seen wine so cheap. This includes the less inflationary past. A bottle of the cheapest wine was always at least 2,50 Euros, never blow.

These 1 Euro for 0.75l are in fact so cheap I'm not even sure if this is possible considering taxes and stuff.

Looks like we're headed towards another 1919, 1946, 1990.

Alcohol tax in Germany is around 95 Cents for 0.75l wine. Add the value added tax and the price is at 1,15 Euros.

There's laws against selling stuff below cost price. Really don't see how they are doing this legally.
>>

Most of the Nordic countries have some sort of state monopoly system on selling Alcohol.

Last stats I saw for my country just drinking 2 beers per week and you're already in the top 5 percentile of heavy drinkers in the country. It's like the average person doesn't drink at all anymore.
As for alcoholism, I cope with it because I saw a guy that was drunk 24/7 all day per week and I vowed to never fall this low. Basically I come back from work, get online and sip 3 beers over the course of an evening when socializing online with the bros.

Back in the day "strong" beer in Sweden ment "above 3,5" in Denmark - above 5,2 (tax rules) so Swedes would come here and order "strong beer" at the bar, and get served Elephant (probably our original strong-beer) and they'd have at it thinking it was between 4-5 percent. Poor fellows.
Now ofcourse there's many more than the elephant. The animal kingdom is well reprecented with Giraf, Sort Giraf, Bjørnebryg, Brutalis. Most of them are pretty shit though. While the Elephant, despite 7,5% manage to taste like a perfectly normal pilsner/lager.

Yeah right. Get a supermajority, change the constitution, upend half of our laws. Then deal with the mass chimpout, deal with several million homeless hitting the streets at once, all the while keeping landlords from hanging themselves as hundreds of thousands of units are suddenly vacant and rents plummet.

Oh yeah, and lets not forget that the hundreds of thousands who work at Jobcenter/Arbeitsagentur/Bildungsträger also join the homeless horde. No, this stuff will be around well past Total Boomer Death - after which we will reform the system from the ground up anyways once the old farts no longer block everything.

You live in poverty, after food and necessities there's nothing left - you can't afford socializing with friends.
But since wages for basic jobs in Germany are so tiny, it makes no pragmatic sense to seek one at all as someone with low qualifications. You'd literally be working 160 hours per month for 200-400€ extra. What's the point?

Bürgi is fine, it only pays enough to keep your body alive. The issue is low wages and high rent cost.

Oddly enough, because of you.
In the old days beverage can's wasn't really allowed here (not a part of our standard deposit/return system).
But the open border towards you, initially had people buy a LOT of beer in Germany (bringing them home in the car ment cans, for the lower weight).
So cans became the norm - despite heavy, sturdy, reusable bottles being the absolute norm before that.
>>
>>535701707
Beer bottles are heavy, break easily and stack like shit.
Cans are efficient and save up on weight and space during transport. Also easier to recycle as you just crush and melt them down.

the idea of a nice car, a wife, vacations in other countries.. etc, is nice, but the reality of it seldom is. In reality, your ass gets sore no matter how nice car after hours of driving, your wife nags and causes constant, non stop, low level stress to a man (scientific fact), the vacations are usually a disappointment, somehow, something ruins it - if otherwise perfect - you get too drunk and your wife is mad at you for the rest of the trip.. Then back to work, which is constant dick measuring bullshit, and every man there secretly (and openly behind your back) hates you, since every Stacy in the office gives You "the looks" but not to other men there. Which makes it all a drag and a burden to accomplish even elementary things while "working together" with people who wants to see you fail.

Staying in your room, drinking alone, shitposting on 4chan beats all of the above by a mile.

This for high achievers and for the bottom of the barrel types. Betas who are "almost alphas" enjoys all that "normal life" since they don't really understand it's true dynamics.

Wine producer here

You can buy bulk wine non suitable for aging from the end of the previous harvest just before the new harvest very cheap.
This because sometimes the winery can't sell all the product and they need the steel vats empty for the new harvest.

So you can buy that wine at 0.5€ and it will be a perfectly fine simple wine likely selling for 5$+ euro retail if the winemaker could sell it.

You can bottle it for around 0.4€ and it should retail for 2€ something as in the original price.

Since it is on offer they likely sell it for what they paid for it.

Of course if this is the farmer itself doing it to get rid of the remaining stock he can sell it even cheaper.

Anyway at 1€ there is practically no profit for anyone involved and its likely a way to attract shoppers. But they likely aren't taking a loss.
>>
The price of alcohol is ridiculously high in Canada, so that must mean things are great here. Elbows up!

No idea. I'm straight edge nowadays, so not gonna buy this. But I remember from my good old days that 1-2 Euros could make the hell of a difference when it comes to vodka. The cheapest tier was for like 5 Euros and tasted like shit and made you feel like shit.
