>>535827804It's the same thing. DDR5 is built to a certain specification. Traditionally, DDR5 memory chips were only really made by Samsung, SK Hynix and Micron. All three of those companies massively reduced (or in the case of Micron complete ceased) making chips for the consumer market, in favor of making HBM for datacenters (more profitable). As a result prices for consumer products increased by 400-500% and it's basically killing the PC DIY market because without memory nobody is going to buy any of the other PC components. CXMT is a new Chinese DRAM manufacturer, barely 10 years old, who just entered the DDR5 market and are looking to grab market share. Due to the massive shortages as a result of the AI boom, many companies (such as Corsair) have started buying the first shipments of these new Chinese memory chips. The companies that make the memory chips don't make or sell the memory modules themselves, instead they sell the individual memory chips to third companies such as Corsair, G.Skill, Kingston and so on. These are the companies who actually slap the chips onto a PCB and turn them into memory sticks. They also add RGB and coolers etc. To the end user the memory stick is indistinguishable from what you'd normally get, except when you look at it with something like CPU-Z you will see that the manufacturer of the DRAM chips is now of Chinese origin rather than Western/South-Korean (which has been the case for the last 30 years).
