Well, it's their property so they can do whatever they want with it. Maybe it would be different if we were living in a high trust society.

>hey can we buy the factory?

LMAO
Capitalism. Just let shit rot away.

I live in a fruit belt, not managing half a million fruit trees for 6 months while people kick around maybe buying the farms is not feasible, production trees need constant maintenance, mowing around them, spraying for pests and monitoring for disease, this is one of those things they post in the news and people who don't know their head from their ass freak about it

not taking care of those trees for 6 months could lead to out breaks of blight that could effect other tree crops, taking them out is the responsible option.
>>
People can pick them up for free. People would love to have a peach tree in their front or back yard. Nah, they’re gonna destroy them, this is evil

>not taking care of those trees for 6 months could lead to out breaks of blight that could effect other tree crops
This is the main part, opposition to this is rooted in ignorance.

Relocating an entire fruit tree is going to cost 10x more than just buying a new smaller one grown in a pot. "Free" is looking like $10,000 given how sensitive the roots are.

these are peaches used solely for canning
they aren't really good peaches
>>
the peaches are "clingstone" type, and not "freestone" (the ones we eat raw). a more hearty type peach that is only edible when cooked and stored in syrup
