From what I could see Trump is in a position that is, or at least was, poised for a total takeover. He has a small but unwaveringly loyal MAGA cult base, and his opposition is too scattered with no organization around a competing figure. Many democrats still feel betrayed by what happened with Bernie. I have seen them even say they deserve Trump for what they did, but that's an aside. My thesis is that Trump, with his loyal base, and the fact he's already tested the waters on forceful legal actions without much pushback, and general apathy in his opposition, would allow him to seize total control. We could see how the big tech bros lined up to kiss his ring during his inauguration, figures you'd normally be expected to be aligned with democrats. I think Trump is too old to do it now though.
