Until every big tech billionaire is hung out dry, with their data centers burnt to the ground, we will continue to be raped.

not valves fault. memory prices have gone up 400%. prices for the main processor must have gone up too because it's more expensive to order new supply from the fabs.

WTF I CAN'T BUY A MEME DECK??

Ive dropped it like 4 times too and even once from a really high place and its still going strong. The battery life has always sucked though

Keep in mind AI will never fully go away. That genie cannot be put back into the bottle.

Even if it dies in the public sector, the government will still use it. They can say it is a matter of national security and they will use that to confiscate land and power plants to make for data centers. They have done similar things before in the name of national security before.

I don't' understand valve shills. They are just like people who defend video game companies. They do not care about you.
>>
>>535915475
It's funny how consoles raise their price thinking it will increase sales. Why would I buy a playstation 5 when it's now more expensive than it was a year ago? Same with the steam deck. Just the thought that I'm being screwed over after people got it for cheaper makes me not want to ever buy it.
>>
>>535915475
This is what happens when you autistic incels fight against any steam competition. They can do whatever they want

>>
>>535916879
Because there’s nothing wrong with supporting and buying from a company that creates good products and benefits. Being a shill means you’d eat up everything they make. I have some big critique against Valve which is mostly that they region lock games or remove games because of external pressure like Australian feminist groups. The price of the hardware sucks but it’s virtually impossible to get cheap hardware nowadays as the prices for RAM, SSD and even HDD sky rocketed because of LLMs

RAM is expensive now because of AI kikes, not really much valve can do. Outside of maybe waiting till China starts making it
>>
The real problem with all this is that the powers that be are working toward a future where everybody is on the cloud because personal computers are too expensive.
And when you are on the cloud, you have no control over anything anymore.
Fuckers like bezos even openly talk about this in podcasts.
And i dont believe the cheap chinese ram meme, (((they))) wont let it happen.

The only reason to use a console over PC is to play 2 player with a guest. There is no game exclusivity except for grand theft auto 6 which isn't even out yet. But that one will probably the only reason to be on a console when it come out. But buying a console for one game ain't worth it.
>>
>>535915883
If that were true, then memory and other chips producers would invest massively and the price would come down in a few years. The problem is that those people believe the AI bubble will crash soon.

Okay but big tech isn't the reason all computer hardware is in such short supply right now. There is a huge demand for graphics cards and memory because of demand for AI in general, not just demand from a few corporations. Big tech has no interest in RTX 3090's, but they still sell for $1000+ used six years after their release because they are useful for AI. I know because I am trying to buy this stuff myself to use for AI and the market is insane.
>>
>>535915580
Faggot retard... Valve can either increase the prices or just not sell steamdecks at all. Same fucking reason you're paying 2x as much now for a new gaming PC compared to pre covid. Mix of inflation caused by insane government spendings that started during covid and never stopped, and hardware being made senselessly more expensive by the push forward to continue bettering a technology nobody except the elite want.

People are doing cool things with it right now. Also:

>enslaving mankind
>not cool
It's arguably our fastest way to a crazy, lawless, cyberpunk future. I guess the real problem is that we people are too fucking docile these days to do cool shit when they're being actively enslaved. I think if we hit some sort of critical mass for job replacement and there isn't UBI within a year or two of 50%+ unemployment, then we could get some pretty cool shit happening.

Realistically how far away are we from picrel?

The whole artificial scarcity thing is really easy to pull off with gamer nerds who buy hardware. They will pay ANYTHING. They will pay 2 grand for a GPU, 1 grand for RAM, they will pay anything.

“The AI-driven growth in the data center has led to a surge in demand for memory and storage. Micron has made the difficult decision to exit the Crucial consumer business in order to improve supply and support for our larger, strategic customers in faster-growing segments,” said Sumit Sadana, EVP and Chief Business Officer at Micron Technology. “Thanks to a passionate community of consumers, the Crucial brand has become synonymous with technical leadership, quality and reliability of leading-edge memory and storage products. We would like to thank our millions of customers, hundreds of partners and all of the Micron team members who have supported the Crucial journey for the last 29 years.”

They're part of the problem. Know why? Because they're inflating costs for private PC users so they can shill their gimmick as children's consoles.

If Micron fulfills the demand of corporations, then they won't need to tap into the consumer market and prices consequently go down.
>>
>>535919813
This. It's why they never bothered to expand production. They know it's a short-lived gold rush.

LLMs will never become intelligent either. They're all doomed to collapse.

Open AI back in 2018-2022 was actually decent company that built most of the open source framework used by local LLMs to this day. A collection of some of the best minds in machine learning, and a boon for tech.
Open AI today is Altman's dystopian life goals wrapped into a single degenerate overleveraged corporation.
