The rail line will expect your city to pay for the halt while the construction occurs. This is not a short project.The municipality also loses significant revenue due to the inconvenience. Every 30 minutes every person spends behind that train line amortized over hundreds of people is equivalent to many lifetimes wasted; you could probably sue the rail line on this basis. These are your alternatives really, but don’t think you’re going to do well against railroad conglomerate legal.
