Are the concerns of data centers overblown? Does it really only employ a couple dozen people?

It takes hundreds of service providers to maintain a data center.
Network engineers
HVAC
Auditors
Electrical engineers
SOC
NOC
Security guards, surveillance
Even gardeners, grounds and cleaning staff.
Even if there's only a dozen or so on-site staff, hundreds of people are needed to keep it running

If they were rolled out in the past, you bet Captain Planet would be against them. Apparently some of the more shady ones are actually poisoning people on top of the power drain and damage to nature.

>Are the concerns of data centers overblown
yes
>Does it really only employ a couple dozen people?
also yes
>>
You don't really need that many people to actually run it.
But it will 100% drive down property prices nearby, Pollute the local area typically with gas powered generators they use, and drive up electricity prices in the area regardless of them using their own energy source or not because the energy they need will fluctuate.
If you hate those things then no, the concerns are not overblow. Worsening the local living standards just for a few dozen jobs isn't a good tradeoff just so a bunch of thirdies can flood the internet with more slop.

This I'm a concrete pump operator and cleared 160k last year mostly due to data centers libtards are fucking retarded
>>

Depending on size you probably could get away with ~100 onsite employees total for even fairly large ones and then just contract out other shit.
200 seems more reasonable tho
I don’t really know tho, I’m basing my figure on my line of work which is a completely different animal but does involve large industrial maintenance

His point is valid. You are building the infrastructure early on in adoption, part of the draw for investors is that actual maintenance is minimal once it's built. Don't expect the gravy train to continue long.

They're the same as they were for the last 30 years we've been building them. The only difference is they're bigger now and they do AI stuff in addition to networking and database/file service shit.
>Are the concerns of data centers overblown?
Obviously there are infrastructure concerns especially with the sizes they're being built to now but that's a result of absolute complacence in infrastructure planning that's been a slow rolling trainwreck for decades, not the fault of the shit we've been doing the whole time anyway.

solar energy scam at least gives you solar energy. AI scam just raises prices of pc components.

Either the data centers really are cancer, OR the retards who want to build the data centers have utterly failed in every way, to explain what data centers are and why they're so desperate to get them built.
Because nobody wants them built, except for the ones going around telling regular people how badly they want them built.
Like, no real people want data centers built near their homes.
There are protests everywhere and every time the developers try building them somewhere.
There has to be a reason why this is happening.

None of them on the actual payroll, just occasional contractors
Fuck you Next DC nigger

>How bad are DigitalID A.I. Surveillance centers
Very bad Anon.

No it doesn't.
