"I hope that the question is more about when this will happen, rather than whether it will happen at all," she said, recalling that every citizen of Estonia is obliged to protect its independence.Several NATO countries have already switched to gender-neutral conscription. Norway and Sweden - since 2015 and 2017, respectively, Denmark - since this year. Latvia plans to introduce compulsory military service for women by 2028. In the Netherlands all men and women from 17 to 45 can get drafted. But they normally stick to the 17 year olds. They follow orders, can't vote and don't do anything important anyway.
