They gas each other up then stab each other in the back which creates a perpetual little man mindset in their head where they always try to belittle others and put themselves higher than others. That ultimately means they ruin themselves chasing fashion trends when they eventually go surgery route or spend a large portion of their finances on fashion. Their brains are just wired that way to always try to be more attractive to find a better mate even if you are "happily" married. Don't try to question it too much it will never make logical sense.
