He spotted Musk and Thiel from a mile away, used them to get elected, and then took advantage of how out of touch they were to burn them. This is not to say that Musk and Thiel are bad guys, they do legitimately want what's best, but they have no exposure to what life is like for most people. That's trapped them in a bubble where they're unknowingly pushing for policies that have the opposite of their intended effect.
