my 67 year old dad has to look for work again after his machine shop is liquidating his position months before his planned retirement .he hasn’t had to look for a job in 15 years and keeps talking about how positions with his experience generally aren’t available anywherethe funny thing is last year i was unemployed and sending out hundreds of applications and i got a “bootstrap” boomer talk so now he’s turned around and told me maybe i was right about the job market

It’s worse than ever and only going to get worse. AI screening of applications where the screening parameters are set by boomers are abysmal. Many so-called job websites are mostly comprised of fake job ads where the companies are only posting ads to make it look like they’re growing, while in reality, they aren’t hiring anyone at all. Add DEI policies and H1B jeets on top of that and the situation becomes untenable in the long run. I don’t know if companies are just run by stupid and incompetent boomers and women or if there’s a coordinated effort to get gen z to start blowing up corporate headquarters and doming CEOs, but the current system is total ass and will never get NEETs to even bother trying to work.
