OK This goes against politics, so here we go!

As the young and sub 35 age group we need to demand that they abolish the rigid timekeeping system or as you know if the 9-5 working week hours. After getting the job we should demand exactly what hours we want to work, and when. Me and so many young people sub 35 who are essential to the workforce are being held back. If I want to work from 12 till 8 as opposed to from 9 to 5 because it’s impossible to get up then my timeframe should be honored. The system which they built to control us, to only make money for the Wall Street guys who invented the 9-5 work week for their own pockets needs to go.

That sounds stupid. My zoomer friend rolls around like that. No schedule. Totally unkempt. Slob lifestyle. He'd be well served if he was up and out the door to get to his shift by 7am sharp. But no. Its stay up late playing Discord, wake up whenever. Probably around 11. Eat some slop, fap abd nap, play some more discord, then pretend to log onto some remote office or classroom around 2. Logs off at 4:00pm sharp. And its baxk to discord games. Shameful.

You're retarded but not for the usual reason.

>muh 9-5
You realize most 9-5 jobs in the private sector expect more than 9-5? They're only 9-5 on paper. Of course they'll never tell you how much they expect you to work in plain language. If you come in at 9AM and leave at 9PM you'll get PIPed out of a job in a few months.

Sure maybe you can coast if you climb a few levels from the IC level into a meme email manager job that you got by blowing your boss' boss dick. If you're an average worker you're expected to produce new features every day on short timelines.

Anon, you can't just lump yourself into the same group as 21 year olds anymore, it's getting weird. You're 34 now, go back to school and get a real job before you're in your 40's.

Yea it's called flex time, some employers offer it. That being said, you don't get to force what hours someone else wants to run their business. Don't like it, don't apply for the job. Find another job that fits your schedule. There's a reason it's 9-5 because those are school hours roughly. Forcing a shift fucks up all kinds of downstream services.

This is good, but if you work in a job where teamwork matters, you need to force some overlap. My company has us work from 10-3 daily and lets us apply the other fifteen hours (per week) wherever we want.

It is a relic of the industrial age, that then got carried into the modern era of office work. The idea being that time must correlate with productivity, because Joe who just started two weeks ago can churn out X widgets in the factory in a week in Y hours.

But when you ask for lack of structure it seems to just be for your own needs. Like a child saying he doesn't want to have a bedtime or have to get up for school.

The vast majority (95%) of people are cattle that need structure and guidance. I think it's a mistake that we pretend something like office work for some multinational needs to be treated like a factory job, where it's clocking in and out and appearing to be busy. It might work a lot better if people were just paid on an hourly basis and those hours are reviewed in a similar way to how a freelancer's is, i.e. at the end of the month you could say that you were on the clock for 150 hours and this is what you did. If your boss agrees, great. If not then we have a problem right? That's why they just say the cheque is the same whether your actual hours for the week barely pushed over a half day or 80 hours. It is retarded but if you can't get over it then just accept being a salaryman isn't for you. Go into freelancing or contract work. I can tell you this but if you still shrug and stay in that job then you should accept your fate as cattle. And that your complaints are exactly that, just complaints. If you want a change in lifestyle, you are the one that has to do it. Your boss isn't going to tell you. Your family will (with good intentions) often tell you to play it safe because they would rather you did "okay" than took a risk and lost.

Nobody is making you stay in a wagie job. You can be the guy that quietly and methodically plans and exit and executes that. Or you can be the guy who complains online and resumes his normal routine as if he'd said nothing. The choice is yours. Be thankful you weren't born in some commie/thirdie shithole.

You are why business owners want reasonable employees.
Look at the brown sea of filth around you. You made that necessary.

I live like this and I’m a scientist. Granted I spend most of that time reading papers and performing experiment instead of trooning out on discord, but the 9-5 schedule doesn’t work well for me. My physical/cognitive peak is almost always in the evenings and it’s when I do my best work. I larp the 9-5 life when I have to, sometimes for weeks or months at a time, but my performance in every aspect of my life suffers measurably as a result.
