explain the anti data center thing to an oldfag who doesn't have twatter or faceberg.

It's bad tech at the moment that is being artificially shilled for "potential" yet the only thing they have managed is insane expansion instead of improved efficiency or optimization. It's tech that is stuck at the fundamental level that can only get stronger by brute forcing more and more hardware.
>>
>>536110573
And that uses more and more power.
An interesting observation.
>>
Computer gets all local resources instead of you
>>
you are not an oldfag
>>
>>536110573
I hate new technology and soience, this all sounds pretty based but if its a shitlib thing im going to ignore it. they have such a selective memory, I hate how they ignore everything until it becomes mainstream and then they forget about it a few months later. It's like they were designed to ruin everything I like specifically. they even managed to fuck up anti semitism.
>>
>>536110280
It uses a lot of power and makes electricity bills go up, and it also consumes a lot of water and shits up the environment
>>
>>536110573
>at the moment
KILL YOURSELF

luddite retards living in the comfort of thousands of years of incremental technological innovations convinced that surely *this* is the one that's going too far and will be detrimental

I drew the line when dating apps were turned into a demoralization tool. I can see where it comes from

Anon at this point we are just old.
We're a bunch of nearly 40 year old men arguing about being oldfags.

>You proceed to KYS
I don't see the problem

>>536112201
I felt the need to ask because this is the first current thing that looks slightly different but based is a strong word. its still a current thing.

Environmentalism, concerns over ROI, and general luddite ideology. Early AI data centers consumed a fuck ton of water which was a genuine concern though theyre adapting to using coolant systems, recycling their water, and using air and synthetic oils for cooling. Theres also the issue that AI investment hasnt turned a real profit yet and seems to be a spending pit not really returning anything. Then theres the general sentiment that AI will replace all human labor and engages in individual theft of labor opportunities and intellectual property which isnt the eeal picture for the future of AI but there are valid concerns there as technology changes society
>>
>>536113642
I saw a video about how hilariously awful it is working at amazon. Theres also software in the works the snitches to corporate if you engage in wrongthink in any way. 10/10 pretty scary. technology as a whole has continiously eroded personal freedom. in the 2000s tech was cool but now anytime I see some new tech it's designed to put a boot on my neck or watch me.

The people running this “AI revolution” are psychos who want to destroy the world. That’s mainly the issue.
The advances of the Industrial Revolution were disruptive but in the end people’s lives got infinitely better and easier. But once countries started instituting neoliberalism and financialization where the profits of real productive enterprises were getting skimmed off the top by money printing and targeted tax loopholes holes for financiers everyone’s lives have steadily gotten worse.
Real production is taxed to death while people who can manipulate spreadsheets reap all the rewards.
The AI revolution is just the next step in making everyone’s lives shittier. The only purpose is to funnel even more money into the pockets of a small clique of individuals who produce nothing while taking the legs out of the actual economy ensuring that nothing of value is ever produced and that we are left with a soulless plastic husk of a planet where people live like bugs in tiny pods consuming slop all day.

Nobody has yet explained why we need data centers. Computers were fine up till now. Why do we suddenly need 1000x more computers? Having mainframes the size of a building was a thing back in the 60s and 70s. Now suddenly we're told we need huge computers again, the size of warehouses this time, and they absoltely *need* to be built everywhere and run 24/7.

It's awfully suspicious.

all revolutions so far have been gay and scripted

There's a huge qualitative difference between the industrial barons of the 19th century and the tech oligarchs of the 21st. The industry giants back then were ruthless and greedy, but in a way that was ultimately human. Like, they'd plow your hometown under to build a more efficient railway line, or open a mine, all to produce more and build better. Your life and labor was a just line item to them. But these new AI tech geeks, man... they're not even in it for the money. It's like they've got a grievance with God and they're trying to develop ever newer and weirder web apps, surveillance tools, and processes to disenchant the world and smother the soul of humanity.

>no twitter or facebook
Ok, you already get it. Stop being a fake ass faggot, OP. You're not a real OP.
>>
>>536110280
AI is nto scalable and it's overhyped.
It's a better search engine and that's about it.
Also yes it can do manual, tedious stuff but the bigger the scale the more unreasonably expensive it gets. Building data centers for more of it is like you are in 1960 and in order to make a more powerful PC you stack a ridiculous amount of RAM, cpus etc. just to have better performance instead of improving the hardware itself and actually making it smaller and smarter.
>>
>>536110280
They will never achieve their stated goal (the singularity), but they will deplete all of the worlds resources trying. That's as simple as I can put it. They are deliberately working toward an extinction level event, but not in the way they think they are.
>>
>>536111868
Plenty of those ones were detrimental too, you're just forgetting them due to being misinformed.
Surely even you've heard of lead though?
>>
>>536110280
People are pissed because the AI datacenter buildout is raising their electricity fees, a few have polluted local waterways, and some pollute nearby hair by having gas generators on premise.
They're getting pushed through local government despite the people protesting loudly against them. (likely local government corruption, but I don't think anything has been proven.)
Naturally shit got politicized, and now you have miggers and Jeets claiming it's all lefties that hate it instead of regular people not wanting to have their life get worse for shit they won't use, and that will employ few people long term.
>>
>>536110280
Tech good
Those who wield it are bad
>>
>>536110280
The data centers are being built out to train and advance AI for seemingly no purpose. It can already be implemented in practical ways and instead they are focused on breaking some sort of barrier to I presume worship the AI as man’s greatest achievement. All hail the AI!
>>
Electricity prices go up in the area. Memory goes up globally.
>>
It's someone else's computer.
>>536116812
>worship the AI as man’s greatest achievement. All hail the AI!
If people worshiped "AI" then the people at the top could use it as a kind of voice changer and issue orders, and the people would see these as instructions of god.
>>
>>536117485
Indians already pray to AI. If anyone starts treating it as some sort of god it'll be them.
>>
>>536110280
It is propaganda to enrage and rile up communist losers. The DC's may be trash and the people pushing them rotten jews or whatever but it's not at all notable in the scheme of things that go on. This is about creating a wedge issue and waterboarding the population via spam and social engineering slop on their algorithms. The idea is to make an angry mob that you can direct to take action when needed.

There will probably be riots and a 2020 color revolution attempt against, soon.
>>
>>536110994
Yes you retarded ape, we are aware of the marketing. Thank you for repeating it, that was extremely helpful and insightful. You have moved this conversation forward.
>>
>>536115106
The short answer is that the economy is in the shitter, like completely nuked. They decided to address this by creating enormous AI hype in order to try and suck all of the money into a bubble. It's working, for now. The data centers are just a side effect of that. It is extremely likely that the US economy takes a massive shit in the very near future. The Eurozone will collapse completely.
>>
the guy on the right is on the left actually (because he is retarded, but manic), but is required to not get to the CYBERGULAG russia and china currently is in
I salute all the idiots using lunix rn

>>536111868
Nothing good has come from 2008 onward. Smartphones are disgusting evil devices and never should have been made mainstream. PDAs/blackberry's for business were acceptable but nothing more than that.
>>
>>536116152
>People are pissed because the AI datacenter buildout is raising their electricity fees
Except that is not the real reason your electricity fees are going up.
>>
these are the usual reasons
>Environmental impact
>Raises the price of PC parts
>Used for AI which people dislike
>Aren't that beneficial to the job market or economy
>Impact on local utility costs and quality
>Fear that they are actually used for surveillance state bs
>>
Why dont you move to an area riddled with them and find out
>>
>>536110280
AI will primarily be used for surveillance and is unironically demonic
