And realistically you're not going to keep a farm without help, especially if gasoline/diesel stops showing up at the station, so if you're by your lonesome or with a nuclear family that's not a reliable sustainable option either.If you're concerned about some sort of food crisis, best thing is to just stock up on something shelf-stable. Yes it will run out eventually no matter how much you stock, but that's again an issue of either you're on an Amish-style farm that can sustain you without modern fertilizer/mechanized farming tools or you're not. If you're not on said Amish-style farm you are not prepared to live without the grid for an extended period of time, full stop. So don't pretend like you are.
