If no check the valid authentication methods (pretty sure trust-me-bro isn't one) and offer the user to authenticate. Instead they let the thing do whatever it wants without checking for permissions. The test team didn't catch it. The product manager should get fired for employing such incompetent people but it's likely HRs fault who just give him diversity hire crap which in the end is the fault of the management because they encourage them to do that.
