Everyday I feel more blessed about the parents I have. They're not super wealthy or anything but they sacrificed a lot for me and my siblings when we were little and are still overly generous to this day when I'm in my 40s. I won the parent lotto. They've been married for 45 years with little to no drama, taught us all about finances since we were old enough to do math, how to use credit properly, how to save, etc and always saved enough for is to do sports, have newer clothes, go on vacations (even if they were just driving to see family we always had fun with our cousins who were similar ages) and all the other things I thought were normal. The older I get the more I realize how abnormal my childhood was but in the best way. None of us need anything from them anymore but they still worry and save so they can leave more to us. It's so hard to understand how so many others seem to have nothing but contempt for their families.
