Is Gary, Indiana a nice place to live? I'm planning on moving there.

Traitor

Absolutely not.

You're going to love the pizza.

It’s not much better than Ireland. Less rainy, but that’s about it.
>>
Gary used to be really fucking bad but now it's just kinda empty. There's small enclaves of nice people and a lot of the bad parts moved away to poorer cities. That being said it still looks like an old warzone. There's just abandoned buildings everywhere
>>
>>536293557
Not really. Its better than Gary Australia though
>>
>>536293557
Are you irish?

I've driven through Gary a few times. When I tell you it's a shithole, keep in mind I'm from Detroit and I'm calling it a shithole. Houses should be cheap though

Can't be as bad as it was in the '80s. The air was choked with dark smoke. Couldn't even breathe, had to keep the car windows rolled up and pray to clear town before suffocation. Perhaps the air has cleared enough by now for niggers to be the primary concern.

Being from Chicago this is a rhetorical question; NO.

A mostly abandoned black city. There is nothing redeeming about it. Was a steel and industrial town. It's essentially an extension of the Southside of Chicago.

You will die there
>>
>>536293557
You would like Fort Wayne better desu
>>
>>536293557
Fuck no but you might be used to it already depending on where in Ireland you're used to
>>
>>536293557
Yes you will be fine

Hat Indiana is notorious as a hell hole.
I knew guy from there.
He told a story about a man who had been shot running into his childhood home and dropping dead in his kitchen
>>
I just drove through there. It’s fucking depressing and not alot of white people from what I saw
>>
>>536293557

>>
>>536293557
It’s about 80% black, I’m sure that’s a really functional city.

>Gary
Gary is not up & coming. It is bottomed out, partly stabilized & being selectively scraped off the floor.

It is not the same full-throttle murder-&-arson reputation machine it was in the old days. Some of the worst human chaos has cooled because the population collapsed, people aged out, moved, died, got locked up, or dispersed into other struggling towns. But the buildings did not leave. The blight stayed.

That is Gary today: less Mad Max, more post-evacuation zone grandmas, churches, working families, loyal homeowners, hustlers, vacant lots, and ruined buildings all mixed together. There are decent people and decent blocks. Miller Beach is an exception lake access, Indiana Dunes adjacency, Chicago proximity, and some real neighborhood pride. But a few viable enclaves do not cancel out the citywide reality

Gary was built for a much bigger, richer industrial population. When steel stopped supporting that world, the city kept the roads, lots, schools, dead commercial corridors, old civic buildings, and tax burden but lost the people and money needed to maintain them. So it has too much city and too little city at the same time.

'historic architecture, affordable, lakefront, Chicago access, resilient community

Reality: the market already rendered judgment, and now the city is trying to triage the corpse into a smaller living organism.

Cheap houses are cheap for a reason: weak tax base, crime history, bad reputation & schools, lending and insurance headaches, thin retail, patchy services, environmental baggage, and the soul-drain of living among abandonment. Gary’s problem is not danger. Its the accumulated weight of collapse.

The city is trying to claw back through demolition, side-lot programs, transit-oriented development, convention activity, downtown nodes, and whatever investment can be concentrated around places that still have a pulse. That strategy is not 'make Gary nice.' its demolish the dead parts faster than they poison the living

I want to take over the entire South Side of Chicago, buy it up, and just fill it with White families. Fuck it. I'mma take over the entirety of Chicagoland and rebuild it for the white family.

my brother use to be a truck driver in the early to mid 2010s. he said Gary Indiana was the only place where he encountered the old block the road trick while they jump on your cab and try to force the doors opened. said it happened mid-day, like it was nothing out of the ordinary for that town. so, it sounds fun!

Kokomo has the pro of very cheap rent without having to live in southern Chicago in a high crime area. You can get an apartment to rent in Kokomo for under 700 a month everywhere.
