I actually did research on this recently. Turns out that whole "video games don't have a direct correlation with violence" studies are complete BS. Media 100% does desensitize people to violence and they basically pulled the same crap "fact checkers" do to disregard the argument completely. Another unsettling thing is how many killers the tv show Dexter has inspired, but for some reason nobody likes to talk about that. Furthermore, I did an experiment on myself where I stopped consuming violent media for a year. Stuff like kungfu was fine, but if the violence had gore or led to death, I wouldn't watch it. What was bizarre was after a year I tried watching a violent movie and legitimately couldn't stomach it. It was bizarre because I came up in the days of hyper violent media so before this a chainsaw slowly ripping through a person wouldn't cause me to flinch, yet watching some graphic action scenes actually bothered me after and I started feeling sick. I think the media people are consuming has definitely led to what we see in society now, moreso because as early as the the 1930's jews in Hollywood realized they could establish what was "normal" through television.TldrYou really need to be careful what you are partaking in and the sorts of things you have been desensitized to.
