As a young white men, the only careers you should pursue are the ones that realistically lead to entrepreneurship within a decade of experience, and the ones that offer a fun bohemian lifestyle. Think salesman, engineer, attorney, carpenter, ranch hand, bartender, or ski bum. There’s also something to be said about the sort of generic traditional steady jobs like government admin, military, healthcare, education, etc. That’s it though. Everything else is a waste of time because you’ll end up stuck working for a large faceless employer and your “career” will get suffocated at the ground level in favor of female and minority promotes, automation, outsourcing, offshoring, or boomers just refusing to step aside plus two generations above you waiting for their turn. It doesn’t matter if we’re talking retail or whatever. You’ll be wasting your time.
