THE HOUSE PASSED THE WAR POWERS RESOLUTION STOPPING TRUMP FROM CONTINUING THE MILITARY OPERATION THAT ENDED WEEKS AGO! WOW! COOL!

How absolutely performative. Congress is so fucking useless.

It'll be his fault when we're forced to withdraw and Iran closes the straight again, imposes tolls, and gas skyrockets to $10/gallon. He started this mess. Congress may force us to cut our losses and withdraw, but the he and the Republicans in general will be facing all of the blame for the downstream effects of all of this since they started this war.

It's largely performative since the president can just veto it. Yes, the president can veto a resolution from the Congress that tells the president that he can't do something. Funny how that works, right? Congress is completely useless

Friendly reminder that congress was absent when Bush went to war. They did not vote for or against the war because they didn't vote at all, even though it's supposed to be one of their powers. The house and senate were both shown to be empty on the news when Bush's stupid invasion timer was ticking down. Not a single congressman was there during one of the most important events in American history in the last hundred years. Congress gives no fucks at all as is normal for late stage democracy.
>>
>>536355302
nothing burger, it would still need to go to the senate, and even then he would veto it. thomas massie being a faggot and not wanting to slime sandniggers is what did this.

>>
>>536350916

>>
>>536355769
The deadline is meaningless, israel can end the not-war a day before the cut and start another not-war-2 and reset the clock.
>>
>>536350916
>that ended weeks ago
This is still important because Israel obviously doesn't want peace.
Hopefully even Trump isn't retarded enough to openly go against congress and order another strike on Iran when it inevitably retaliates to another kike attack.

>20 years in Iraq/Afghanistan
>Congress never declared war
At this point, it's pretty safe to say that Congress has abdicated their war powers to the president. They had 20 years to declare war, pass a war power resolution, or generally use their power of the purse to limit the war (particularly in the later years when support weakened and no one even knew why we were there anymore), and they didn't do it. If they didn't do any of that in 20 years, I wouldn't expect them to ever do it. Congress is already useless, but to just give up and hand over one of the few powers that they actually have to the President is beyond pathetic. Just expect every future President to be the full commander-in-chief and sole decision maker about the military in the US

Yeah, pretty much. All the checks and balances we were supposed to have to prevent a king have been ignored if not destroyed. Project 2025 has succeeded by all measures.

it's such nonsense, the law is clear, it doesn't need any vote by congress, the administration is already in violation of the law and constitution.
>>
>>536355887
If it made it to his desk, he would just veto it, retard.
>>
>>536356871
It's pretty ridiculous that the president can just veto a law that's designed to stop the president from single-handedly dragging the country into a war.
>>
>>536350916
It won't pass. It is antisemitic and goes against the constitution of the United States of Israel.
>>
>>536352211

It won't.
The toll will only add a few % to the price of crude, nothing significant and much less than the current situation.
>>
>>536357508
Yeah he just has to come up with a new name for his foreverwar every 60 days.

>>
>>536355486
You missed a step where Congress can cancel a veto with 66% of the vote then it stands for good. However, it so rarely happens it would be a 8% chance on Polymarket tops. In this case it could happen since the war is so incredibly unpopular everyone needs to be seen to be against it.
>>
>>536359442
They passed it by like 3 votes, they can't overturn a veto.
>>
>>536359043
>>Iran closes the straight again
>they won't
Kind of a retarded position to have when they have been closing it every chance that they get. You think they're going to just suddenly change their minds about closing it if and when they win? btw closing the straight goes hand-in-hand with imposing tolls, which you seem to agree with. Yes, Iran has completely closed the straight for a few countries (the US, naturally) but for most, it's a "closed unless you pay us" thing. I don't see how you can think they wouldn't close it, but you agree with the tolls. lol
>It won't.
>The toll will only add a few % to the price of crude, nothing significant and much less than the current situation.
It will. The prices have already been skyrocketing and we're running out of emergency levers to pull. The strategic reserve has been emptied ever since Biden used to try and artificially lower prices during HIS administration, and they're currently passing new laws to let gas stations sell you cornslop E25 gas since it's cheaper (it'll also ruin your engine, but don't worry about that, goy)
>>
>>536359442
Yeah. the other anon beat me to it, but I didn't forget that Congress can override a veto - it's just not going to happen. They barely got the war resolutions passed by a few Republicans jumping ship. They're not going to get 2/3s. There are still plenty of MAGA loyalists and jewish assets in Congress.
>>
nobody cares about this kike theater anymore
>>
>>536359727
Semantics.
Is a toll road a closed road?

Trumptards will call it "closed" but the rest pf the world will call it open because they can get their ships through which is all that really matters.
Yeah a toll has to be paid to pay for all the damage gulf states did to Iran by hosting America's war - it's only fair.
>>
>>536351134
The fact that it corrupted to be no longer as intended is proof its not. It was set up to prevent corruption and authoritarianism and it failed. Laws are just words on paper after all.

Ranked choice voting shouldve been implemented from the start because not having it inevitably leads to a 2-party gridlock, which means congress cant function as intended and then theres pressure for the president to just do bullshit and act as a King like Trump is now.

Executive orders should not exist, presidential pardons should not exist. The filibuster should not exist. Lobbying should be illegal in the constitution itself. Supreme court justices should have checks to prevent them from legislating from the bench. Finally congressmen need to be held accountable for their votes and should be permitted to be voted out by the people they are representing on 6 month intervals. Also congressmen need term limits. The entire system has collapsed.
>>
>>536360035
Everything you mentioned can be done within the framework of the system though. The people in power don't do it because it wouldn't benefit them.
>>
>>536351113

>Semantics.
>Is a toll road a closed road?
It's not semantics. You're just retarded and either can't or didn't read the rest of my post. Iran has COMPLETELY CLOSED the straight to a few countries (like the US, obviously). There is no toll for US ships, they just don't let them cross for obvious reasons. For other countries, yes, it's a toll system.

And your comparison to a "toll road" shows that you clearly don't understand the real purpose or threat behind this toll system. It's not like throwing 50 cents into the bucket to cross a toll road. If Iran wins this and they retain control over the straight, it WILL BE functionally closed because the tolls will be exploitatively high to take advantage of countries who desperately need to move valuable cargo like oil. They'll have a chokehold on a large part of global trade, and they aren't going to be letting ships pass through for a few pennies.
>>
>>536360097
Exactly. Thats why its a flawed system. If it wasnt flawed the separation of powers would have been enough to not allow them to do that. Now its essentially unsalvagable and the empire will probably collapse in our lifetime.
>>
>>536360035
Oh please bozo, it wasn’t set up to do the impossible; it was set up to restrain corruption, not to prevent it. The US has done a fine job, this resolution is evidence the system still bucks
