Why doesn't Australia just terraform the desert to make it farmable?
Because that would require politicians to do long term planning beyond their ruling time-frame.Same goes for most first world countries when it comes to mega-projects.
>>536357982because the abos terraformed it to make it desert and its their country now, 10 out of 10 both past and present elders know that.
dumbass gaijins really dont understand thermal dynamics
>>536357982Because Trump will start WW3 (according to extraterrestrials) and people in Europe and in the North America will be forced to move to Australia, Africa and South America. The world as you know is about to change a lot.
>>536357982They have been. Cattle land has slowly been turning the outback back into a prairie. The cows shit turns the soil more fertile, allowing grasses to grow denser, allowing moisture to be held under ground longer, allowing better climate, as the grassland will absorb a lot of the sunlight. >>536358252Yes, they killed everything and chopped down all the trees. Fucking abos should have been exterminated when the brits landed there.
>>536360225>faggot mold is better climate desert chads moving rare resources to surface and deeply fertilizing the soil with small life
>>536358327>thermal
>>536357982I ask this question every time people say we have to go to mars. Plenty of unused land to terraform here and we already have an atmosphere.
>>536358327They already had the plans made to turn the australian interior into lush plains by digging a huge canal connected to the ocean and flooding some low lands and old quarries with salt water who would cause a massive increase in rain fall due to their evaporation thanks to the wind currents mostly being trapped in the interior (which is also why it is a dessert in the first place). Thermodynamics has little to do with desertification it is mostly air currents not being connected to large bodies of water and that cause the lack of percipitation. Most of Antartica is a desert. This is 3rd grade stuff nip.
>>536357982The actual reason is an endangered sand lizard which probably isn't even endangered it had one population census ever. It is a retarded county that is going to be a shit hole forever.
>>536357982why dosent Oinkler give us an update
>>536357982They should dig a channel right through the middle of it to connect both seas, maybe even dig a channel from end to end in both directions.
>>536363466Why doesn't American build a canal from the east coast to the west coast?
>>536358238So they might be able to after China conquers them?
>>536357982its really big>>536358252no, you dont understand how big australia iswhat you say implies abos could evena gross misestimation
>>536357982I've wondered about the viability of industrial scaled seaside dehumifiers on the westshore of the Austrialian outback and Sahara for quite some time, like solar panels but dehumifiers; the advantage of course.... no brine or salt residues to deal with. The economy of scale propbably still favors electrolysis of sea water and burning the resulting hydrogen to make fresh water; however; I haven't done the math, simply guessing.
>>536363898you want to dehumidify a desert?
>>536363898yeah you can do that irl its called burning down the forestry
removing as much green as possible would just be fantastic for water purification and land creation.
>>536360225>>536358252>abos slash burn jungle = fertilizing soil >akshually soil is barren
>>536364860Fire doesn't fertilize soil you retard. there are many types of trees that require fire in order for their seed pods to burst open, but that doesn't mean that fire makes the land more fertile. In a general sense fire does the exact opposite.
Yes earth used to be mostly forests, and it would go back to that without humans eventually. Desertification is human caused, that all used to be forest, but we are very destructive. Burn down a forest then move onto the next one because your surroundings suck now x however long humans have been around
>>536363633It wouldn't take as much digging as you think. There is enough area below sea level to just flood if it was connected to the sea that 80% of the work is done for you. Addin that Australia already has an insane amount of digging equipment it could be done insanely quickly if they really wanted to. As for the reason the US doesn't do it is we have massive interior rivers already and the panama canal for shipping. Seriously the digging of a canal to the interior of Australia would transform it into a country on par with the USA or China economically.
>>536357982>huge water pipes from the ocean>pump sea water on evaporators>eventually the water terraforms the environment into a lush grassland>collect the salt from the evaporators for exportationIn before jew screeching noises. We all know it is possible and not infeasible in any way.
>>536363898No need to desalinate it seaside. Just allowing natural evaporation on seawater in the desert zone itself will cause it to terraform and desalinates itself in the process, and it will cost less overall due to the enhanced evaporation in the desert zone being more efficient than desalination efforts. As for the salt, that's an export bonus. And if the salt loses its value, it can easily be trucked back to the ocean for dumping back into the sea. It's still a win-win due to the fact that overall, fuel is cheaper than low-efficiency desalination methods.
>>536366069It isn't. With all the CO2 we have been pumping into the atmosphere and nitrogen back into the soil the earth is greener than ever. The reason that Australia is a desert is rainfall. The exact cause isn't known but we know around 3000-4000 uears ago a huge climate change started happening that caused most of the deserts we have today thanks to fossil records and written records.
>>536357982Criminal alcohol syndrome
>>536358238HES RIGHT EVERYONE LISTEN TO THIS ANON
>>536357982They will.
To turn a desert into a lush green land, all it takes is ample water. Everything else will sort itself out.
