The cross is where they meet. Hell is not a torture chamber God designed for people who failed a test. It is self-chosen separation from God. The doors are locked from the inside. Read Luke 15. The prodigal son wastes his inheritance on prostitutes and comes home expecting to be a servant. The father runs to him. Runs. Grown men in that culture did not run. It was undignified. He embraced his son before the son even finished his apology. Then he threw a party. That is Jesus's own description of how God responds to someone coming back. Not despising. Not destroying. Running. There is also the parable of the lost sheep and the lost coin in the same chapter. God as a shepherd who leaves the ninety-nine to find the one. God as a woman who tears her house apart looking for a single coin. Not a judge with a gavel. A shepherd. A searching woman. A running father. That is the God who is actually there. The fundamentalist who told you otherwise gave you a false god made in her own image. The real one has been waiting for you the whole time. Go to a Catholic church when no one is there. Sit in the back. Do not pray. Just sit. The Blessed Sacrament is there. You do not need words. You need presence.
